SUMMARY: In 2001, the city of Auburn, Kent, Renton, Tukwila, and the Port of Seattle entered into an Interlocal Cooperative Agreement that established a multi-jurisdictional team to effectively respond to high risk criminal occurrences. In 2003, the cities entered into an Interlocal Agreement adding the city of Federal Way to the VWAT team. In 2010, the jurisdictions began the process of amending the ILA to remove the city of Des Moines in addition to providing for future amendments through addendums. Recently, the city of Kent realized that the 2010 Amendment was not fully-executed by multiple jurisdictions. The police chief is working with the team to ensure all jurisdictions route this ILA through the proper approval procedures.
