We planted 10 large trees and 15 smaller big leaf maples. We removed invasive blackberries and spread 20 yards of mulch. This is Kent's 14`h year as a Tree City USA. Nov. 19, 9 a.m. - noon, rain or shine. Because of Kent's commitment to trees and the environment, the city has been named Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation every year since 2003, making this its 14`h anniversary. Although National Arbor Day is in April, Kent Parks plants its celebratory trees in the fall so they have the best chance to establish and thrive. Volunteers will also help beautify the space around the new granite boulder park sign. This event qualifies as community service hours for students, faith-based and corporate groups, families, scout troops and individuals. Tools, light refreshments, and staff supervision are provided.
