The southbound side of SR 515's north leg(at the intersection with SE 208th St.)is currently channelized for a single left-turn
lane, two thru lanes, and a single right-turn lane. The northbound side of the north leg has two thru lanes. As the roadway
extends to the north, it tapers into just five lanes. The south leg of the intersection has two thru southbound lanes, two
northbound to westbound left-turn lanes,two thru northbound lanes,and a single right-turn lane.
Description of Proposed Work
Description of Proposed Work(Attach additional sheet(s)if necessary)
The City of Kent will install an additional southbound to eastbound left-turn lane on SR 515. This capacity improvement is
expected to have positive effects on the efficiency and safety of the intersection and the surrounding area in three primary ways:
(1)reduce queues, which leads to fewer driveways on SR 515 blocked by traffic; (2)less red-light running and other aggressive
driving behavior, due to shorter delays; and(3)less overall risk exposure at this congested location, due to reduced travel times.
