Agenda Item: Consent - 7I TO: City Council DATE: February 5, 2013 SUBJECT: Contract with AMEC, 64th Avenue South Channel Improvements - Authorize MOTION: Authorize the Mayor to sign a consultant services contract with AMEC in an amount not to exceed $19,096.15 to provide geotechnical engineering services for the 64th Avenue South Channel Improvements Project, subject to final terms and conditions acceptable to the City Attorney and Public Works Director. SUMMARY: Next summer, the Public Works Department will be installing two box culverts within the 64th Avenue South drainage channel This is phase II of the project, which will help reduce flooding by increasing flow capacity and improving storm water conveyance along 64th Avenue South from South 228th Street to the Green River Natural Resources Area. The culverts are located underneath a Union Pacific Railroad spur track that crosses the 64th Avenue South channel. The design and construction of the new culvert foundation must meet federal railroad standards. As this is specialized engineering work, AMEC consultants will be preparing the geotechnical engineering designs and providing construction support for the culvert foundation.
