MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING
BY AND BETWEEN
THE CITY OF KENT AND AFSCME LOCAL 2617
This memorandum of understanding is intended to amend the language in Article 17-
Holidays of the 1998-2000 labor agreement with regard to Holiday hours accrued for
the New Year 2000 holiday only. The City and Union have met to discuss this issue and
have agreed to the following:
• The January 1, 2000 New Year holiday will be accrued by non-shift personnel of the
bargaining unit in 1999, because this holiday is observed on December 31, 1999 by
this group of employees. Non-shift personnel will accrue 96 hours of holiday leave
in 1999, and 80 hours in 2000.
• It is understood that non-shift employees may use or cash out the 2000 New Year
Holiday in the year 1999 in accordance with procedures outlined in the bargaining
agreement.
This agreement represents both of the parties' understanding and agreement on this
one time amendment of Article 17 with regard to this issue.
