HomeMy WebLinkAboutES06-016 - Other - AFSCME 2006-2008 Labor Agreement - 01/17/2008 - MOU - Lateral Officer Incentives MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING By And Between The CITY OF KENT And WASHINGTON STATE COUNCIL OF COUNTY AND CITY EMPLOYEES, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, LOCAL #2617 This agreement is entered by and between the City of Kent ("City') and Washington State Council of County and City Employees, AFSCME, AFL-CIO, Local #2617 ("Union") to memorialize an agreement reached between the City and the Union regarding efforts to recruit and hire lateral corrections officers This Agreement is not intended to be precedent setting or to supersede the terms of the collective bargaining agreement ("CBA") in any future circumstances beyond the expiration of the current CBA, December 31, 2008, unless mutually agreed to by the parties. In an enhanced effort to attract, recruit and hire qualified lateral corrections officers, the City may offer lateral officers the following incentives, which are above and beyond the compensation and benefit levels guaranteed in the current CBA The City's offering of any or all of these additional compensation and/or benefits shall be at the City's sole discretion and shall not be precedent setting for future hiring. The Union agrees not to contest the City's negotiation and offering of the compensation and benefits listed below to lateral corrections officers. • A lump sum of sick leave hours Use of sick leave shall be in accordance with the labor agreement and City Policies and Procedures. A lump sum of paid leave hours, not to exceed forty (40) hours. Paid leave may be used in accordance with annual leave provisions, policies and procedures. If the employee separates from employment prior to completing his or her probationary period as identified in Section 3.1 Probationers of the CBA, the paid leave shall have no cash out value. However, once the employee successfully completes his or her probationary period, any remaining unused paid leave will be transferred to the employee's annual leave bank. Annual leave may be cashed out at separation of employment per applicable contract or City policy provisions. • Corrections officers who relocate, upon hiring, to a residence closer to the City of Kent may be allowed up to one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) in relocation expenses per City Policy through the City's receipt and reimbursement method. By signature below, the parties agree that the above represents the parties'full and entire agreement with regard to these matters.
