This is for preparing Contract Documents for street improvements, a scope of work that was originally the City's responsibility In addition, we are requesting that the contract date be extended two months through addendum to February 11, 2007 Beginning in March of 2006, The Portico Group began conversations and correspondence with the City regarding the status of the design and costing of components of the Street Improvements portion of the project to be provided by City's Public Works Department. Portico's streetscape "project scope was for surface improvement design only, and did not include a site survey, geotechncal engmeermg, or design for demolition, utilities, grading or structural improvements It is understood that this work will be accomplished by the City of Kent, and coordinated with The Portico Group"(8/5/05 SD Contract and Attachments). Because the City's Public Works staff was busy and not available to work on the project, Portico indicated that it could be possible to cover civil and electrical engineering within our fee We proceeded with this work and the supporting geotechmcal investigation With our contract based on an hourly time and material basis, we were able to accommodate the initiation of these services quickly. We had hoped that our team might stay within the NTE amount Unfortunately, the additional work was more than expected and we notified the City on July 1 I"' and proceeded with the woik We are now requesting this additional service.
