Interaction Between the Standing Committee of
the Hongkou District People's Congress of
Shanghai Municipality, China and the Kent
-City Council of Washington State, U. S. A.
In order to broaden and strenghen the connection and association
between the Hongkou District of Shanghai Municipality, China and the
City of Bent of Washington State, U. S. A. and, to promote` the cooperation
between each other in economy, science and technology, education, culture
and other fields, on April 30, 1996, Mr. Zhang Naisheng, Chairman of the
Standing Committee of the Hongkou District People's Congress held talks
with Mrs. Christi Houser, President of the gent City Council on the
establishment of mutual friendly relation of interaction, and the both
parties reached a consensus. The memorandum was signed as follows:
1. Friendly relations of interaction between the Standing Committee of
the Hongkou District People's Congress of Shanghai Municipality China
and the gent City Council of Washington State, U. S. A. are established.
Both parties will keep and strengthen the relations so as to work for the
promotion of economic and social development of the two cities.
2. Both parties will timely exchange and introduce the situations of
kcal econcm,r and social development and will make joint efforts to
provide the necessary conditions and convenience for the exchanges of
projects such as economy, science and technology, education, culture and
so on as well as for the related people's visits, investigations,
investing and handling related affairs between the two cities.
3. In order to promote ccoperation, strengthen exchanges and enhance
that the both
`riendship, it has been decided through consultation
parties will make visits at their convenience to each other for the
purpose of strengthening and developing friendly relations.
4. This Memorandum shall be bonded equally in both Chinese and English.
