Agreement to transfer Kent Winterfest Parade responsibilities to the Kent
Lions Club
On this day, the Kent Lions Club (KLC) and the Kent Cornucopia Days
Committee (KCD's), a wholly owned event of the KLC, approves the Kent
Downtown Partnership (KDP) request and agrees to assume complete
responsibility of and will run and operate the annual "Kent Winterfest Parade"
(known as the "Parade").
In assuming responsibility, the KLC will strive to increase the size, scope,
participation, awareness, and prestige of the Parade. As such, it is assumed that
the KLC will experiment with, make modifications too, make all final decisions
for, and adapt some or all current procedures and events of the Parade.
This agreement does not include the responsibility of the annual "Christmas
Tree Lighting" that follows the Parade at this time. This event will be subject
to negotiations and agreement during the year 2001 as there is not enough time
to properly prepare and assume responsibility for both the Parade and the
lighting.
As the KLC is desirous of producing a prestigious Parade, the KLC will receive
complete cooperation from the KDP, all downtown businesses, and the City of
Kent.
In addition, the KDP and the downtown businesses will support and cooperate
with the KLC as they seek public support, monetary and other donations in
support for the Parade. The KDP will cooperate with the KLC in any
advertising or activities that the KDP does in and around the time of the Parade.
The KDP will turn over any and all assets and documentation (or copies of) that
it has in its possession to the KLC that deals with the Parade.

In the spirit of this agreement between the KDP and the KLC, and the mutual
desire of the KLC and the KDP to increase cooperation to benefit the Kent
Downtown and Greater Kent Community, and in so much as the KCD's
Festival greatly benefits the KDP and local businesses, the KDP will:
1. Continue to cooperate fully with the KLC and its annual production of
KCD's,
2. Continue to send a liaison to all general KCD's committee meetings,
3. Continue to be a liaison to downtown businesses in regards to KCD's
(including the continuation of relaying material to all businesses on the KDP
mailing lists),
4. Continue to acknowledge and confirm KLC governance of KCD's in all
matters and concerns,
5. Cooperate with the KLC in any advertising KDP does in regards to KCD's,
usage of any assets such as the downtown vertical banner, and any other
future requests that the KLC may ask of the KDP.
6. Cooperate with the KLC in any other endeavor that benefits the downtown
area of the City of Kent.
