SPECIAL MEETING
The Special meeting of the Kent City Council of January 14 , 1986
was recessed to 6 : 00 p.m. January 17 , 1986. The meeting was called
to order by Council President Johnson at 6: 05 p.m. Present: Council-
members Bailey, Biteman, Houser, Johnson, White and Woods , Kent News
Journal representative Lyle Price, candidates for the vacant Council
position and four citizens.
COUNCIL VACANCY The City Clerk noted that all candidates had been
notified that each would be given three minutes to
make a statement, in an open, public meeting. The
following candidates each gave a short presentation:
Laurel Whitehurst
Steve Dowell
Dan Papke
Glenn Votaw
Raul Ramos
Margaret Drotz
Stan Robinson
Carl Ricketts
Alana McIalwain
Paul Mann
Doug Cullen
Douglas Gesler
Charles Lambert was out of town for the weekend and
his presentation will be made at the regular meeting
of Tuesday, January 21.
Johnson suggested that the Council vacancy be
placed as the last item of business on the agenda
and that Lambert be interviewed at that time. Woods
noted that the original plan was for the Council
to go into executive session at the regular meeting
on Tuesday, January 21 to consider the qualifica-
tions of the applicants, return to the open meeting
and then vote. It was agreed that this was the
plan and there was no proposal to change it.
ADJOURNMENT BAILEY MOVED to adjourn at 7 : 35 p.m. Biteman
seconded and the motion carried.
