A special meeting of v1w Kent City Council was callLd to order
at 6 : 30 p.m. by Mayor Hogan . It was determined tAnt rrepor
notice for the special .meeting has been given and t Aat the-
purpose of the meeting is to consider bids for a boo-. -,r
station at S 130th,
Present : Mayor Hogan, Councilpersons : Bailey, Carey, B , jotnson,
J . Johnson , Masters , McCaughan, Mooney, City Administrator
Cushing, City Attorney Mirk, Acting Public Works Director Wick-
strom, Planning Director Harris and Finance Director YcCarth: -
Jess Abed represented URS .
The following bids were received:
Lakeview Consuruction $60 , 400
Omega Contractors 76 , 000
Shade Contractors 86 , 700
Linbrook Construction 86 , 760
Ralph Bishop 97 , 450
Engineer' s Estimare 6 7 , 750
Wickstrom reported chat chat the City Attorney had advised that
the two low bidders had not suhmitLed responsive bids inasmoch
as neither had included the cost of bringing power to 0e site .
He recommended that the bids be rejeeLed and that a new call for
bids be issued Lately so chat an award could he considered
at the March 3 Council meeting. Wickstrom noted that portable
pumps could be rented to make the conversion, if necessary.
Upon Mooney ' s queqrQn , it was noted that the bid documents 7,rc-
vided for 60 days !or completion of he contract and that the
penalty clause pnovided for $200 per day for delays . Mirk advised
that we might have difficulty obtaining bids if the amou,-);_ were
to be increased. Abed noted that delivery of the necessary equip-
ment could be delayed, since it came from the midwest, but that
delivery could be expected within 45 days of approval of the
contract. WicksLron noted that the item covering bringing power
to the site would be deleted from the new bid documents and that
the city would arrange for this icew.
MOONEY MOVED for a now call for bids to be issued for Feb 29 and
for the bids to be presented at the Mar 3 Council meeting, Masters
seconded, motion carried .
