HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Meeting - Council - Minutes - 07/16/1923 160 Kent , Washington, July 16 , 1923- Regular meeting of the Council; present Mayor Leppert and Council- men Boundy, Hallock, Murke'r , Moore , Marsh and Woodley. Pdirrates of July 2, read and approved. Clerks report for the month of June read and filed. Police & License Committee reported, recomending purchase of two mattreses , two covers and two quilts , for the jail , .recomendation adopt- ed and the goods ordered purchased. Fire Truck Committee reported, recomending the purchase of 1 Amer- ican LeFrance fire truck, and upon motion the terms of the American Le- France Co. were ,accepted and a truck ordered purchased on the defered payment plan; the Mayor and Clerk being authorized to sighn agreement. Committee appointed to act with the Park Board in arranging a plan to have the Auto Camp Grounds policed and taken care of reported, and presented to the Council a leese to Mr. Rader for the Councils approval , recomending that the same be adopted. After some discussion and upon motion, duly made and seconded, the agreement and leese was adopted and the Mayor and Clerk was authorized and instructed to sign the same . Upon motion the walk across mill creek, on cemetery road, between Smith street and Mr. Morrills residence , was ordered built by the City, from the Road & .Bridge Fund, and under the supervision of the Street Committee . RESOLUTION NO. 208, AMENDED, was read and adopted as follows: It is resolved by the City Council of the City of Kent, in King Coun- ty, State of Washington, that it do and it does hereby declare its inten- tion of improving the South side of Titus Street between Railroad and Central Avenues;, the west side of Central Avenuep from Meeker to Titus street; the wewst side of Stste Avenue , from Smith to Pioneer street; the North and South sides of Ward street , from State to Kenebeck Avenues; the East side of Naden Avenue , from Willis to Meeker streets; the East side of Fifth Avenue , from Willis Street south, to the existing concrete. walk on Fifth Avenue; east side of Fifth Avenue , south from Gowe to Titus Street; d 9V ' 161 and the North side of Gowe street , .from Railroad Avenue to Central Ave. , except in all cases where concrete sidewalk in -already constructed and approved. By constructing on said portions of said streets and avenues , as ind- icated , a concrete sidewalk, six feet wide , and doing such other work in conection therewith as may be necessary, all in accordance with plans and specifications to be prepared by the City Engineer. That all persons who may desire to object .to the said improvement are hereby notified to appear and present such objections at a meeting of the City Council to be held in the Council Chambers , in the City Hall, in the City of Kent , at 8 o ' clock p . m. , on the. 6th. day of August , 19239 which time and place is hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters relat- ing to said improvement , and all objections thereto , and for determining; the method of payment for said improvement . That the City Clerk is directed to submit to the City Council at or prior to. said date , all data and information required by, law to be so submitted. That the cost and expense of said improvement ,shall be borne by and assessed against the property liable therefor as provided by law. RESOLUTION NO. 210 , was read and adopted as follows: It is resolved by the City Council of the City Of Kent , in King Coun- ty, State of Wadhington, that it do and it do hereby declare its inten- tion of improving VPillis Street , from the west side of `'entral Avenue to the west City Limits; Also Second Avenue So. , .from Willis Street to Saar Street , By bring said streets to a proper grade , and then placeing a concrete paving` thereon 20 feet in width, and doing such other work in conection therewith as may be necessary, all in accordance with plans and specifi- cations to be prepared by the City Engineer. That all persons who may desire to object to the said improvement are hereby notified to appear and present such objections at a meeting of the City Council to be J}eld in the Council Chambers , in the City Hall , in the City of Kent , �.t 8 o' clock p. m. , on the 6th. day of August , 1923- which time and place is hereby fixed for the hearing of all amtters relat- ing to said improvement , and all objections thereto ,. and for determining the method of payment for said improvement. _ That the cost and expense of said improvement shall be borne by. and assessed against the property liable therefor as provided by law. That the City. Clerk is directed to submit to the City Council at or prior to said date;, all data and information required by law to be so submitted.
