Kent , Washington, May 15 , 1922.
Regular meeting of the Council; present Mayor Leppert and Council-
men liallock, Hatt , Nurker, 1ilorrill , 14aden, Thompson and Woodley.
Minutes -of' the regular meeting of Yajr lst . , and the Special meet-
ing of liay 5th. read and approved.
City Clerks , Chief' of -Police and IIealtli Offixers Reports for Apr.
read and filed.
Street COm. reported progress on the matter of placing post at in-
tersection of Smith and Cent . requesting furtiier time , which was gran-
ted.
volice and License Com. reported as to the plan of mooving jail &
hire apperatus and the same was adopted.
The Council canvassed the vote -of the last election and declared
the result of the same by passing the following resolution;
WHEREAS - On this the 15t11. day of May, 1y22 , the City Council of
the City of Kent , Washington , at a regular meeting thereof, held in the
City Hall , did open and canvass the returns of a special city election,
held in the City of Kent , on the 2nd. day of May, 1922; said election
having peen called for the purpose of submitting to the electors of tr:e
said city the proposition of issuing $20 ,000. General City Bonds for
the purpose of building a city hall , and,
WHEREAS - The said City Council did find upon said canvass that the
vote at the said election, did result as follows:
For the issuance of $20,000. City Hall Bonds , 307
Against the issuance of $20,000. City Hall Bonds 143
And that the total vote cast at the said election was 450
NOW THEREFOR BE IT RESOLVED, By the City Council of the City of
Bent , 77ashin6ton, that the proposition submitted at the said special
election, to issue $20 ,000. City Hall Bonds , having received more titan
3/5) three fifths of the total vote cast at the said election did car-
ry , and the issuance of the $20 ,000. City Mall .Bonds is authorized oy
tree electors of the said city, voting at the said election.
Ten bids were opened for the purchase of the $20,000. City Hall
Bonds and they were refered to a Committee of the Whole Council , with
Councilman Naden as Chairiaan; the Committee retired to consider the
bids , during an intermission of the Council meeting, and after due
consider ation they reported back to the Council that the bid of harper
& Son, offering to take the bonds at 5J, and pay a small premium, also
to furnish the bonds , was the best bid and recomended that the same be
accepted; upon motion duly made and seconded the report of the Comrrli-
ttee of the Whole Council was adopted, and the bonds were awarded to
Harper & Son, at the price named.
Orddnance No. 500 , authorizing the issue and sale of the $20,000.
City Hall Bonds , was read and upon motion placed upon its final passage
and carried by the unanimous vote of all of the Councilmen present.
Ordinance No. 499 , granting to the Milwaukee Railway Company an ex-
tention of its Franchise , for spur track on Second Avenue , was read and
upon motion placed upon its final passage and carried by the unanimous
vote of till of the Councimen present .
Ordinance No. 501 , fixing time and place of the meetings of the
City Council , was read and upon motion placed upon its final passage
and carried by the unanimous vole of all of the Councilmen present.
Resolution No. 205 , Declaring; the intention of the City to ilirprove
Ivo. Central Avenue , by placing drain, was read and adopted as follorti-s:
It is resolved by the City Council of the City of Bent , Washington,
that it do and it does hereby declar its intention of improving Central
Avenue , from the south side of Pioneer street -Lo the north City Limits ,
by placing on the west side of the said street a 12" by 24" box drain
of plank, and doing such other wprk in conection therewith as may be
necessary , all in accordance with plans and specifications to bepreuared
by the City Engineer.

Tnat all-persons that desire to object to tree Baia improvement
are hereby notified to appear and present such objections at a meeting
of the City Council to be held in the Council Chambers , in the City
Ball , in the City of Kent , at b o 'clock p .�a. , on the 19th. day of
June , 1922. which time and place is hereby fixed as the time aid place
for the hear ing of all matters relating to said improvement , an all
objections thereto , and for determining the method of payment tr suen
improvement.
That the City ' Clerk is directed to submit to the City Council at
or prior to said date , all data and int'ormation required by law to ce
so submitted.
That the cost and expense of the said improvement sal-ill be oorne Icy
and assessed against the property liable therefor as provided by law.
I hereby certify that the above reaolution was passed by tie City C
Council of the City of Kent , Washington, at a regular meeting Uzereof,
held in the City Ball of Said City , at Y O ' clock p. m. on the 15th.

Three bids were opened for the cleaning up of the City Hall prop-
erty and upon motion the contract was awarded to Mr. C. Adam fox the
material to be had.
