Kent , Washington , February 21 , 1921 .
Regular meeting of the Council; present Mayor Leppert and Councilmen
Hallock, Hatt , Murker, Morrill , Naden , Shore & Woodley.
Minutes of February 7th. ,read and approved.
Report of the Chief of Police , for the month of January, was read
and filed.
Truck Committee reported , recomending that it was not advisable to
purchase a truck at this time .
Joint Committee of the Council and Fire Dept . reported progress on
the purchase of a Fire Truck, Committee Continued.
Light Committee recomended that one light be placed on the west
side of Naden Ivenue , about bidway between the tv!o lights already
there , recomendation adopted and the light ordered put in.
Claims read and allowed as follows:
J. N. Waddell Gravel for Streets $ 3.00
Loose Leaf Corp. Office Supplies 2.10
P. S. E. Ry. Co. Lighting 134.97
F. J. Francisco Police Exp. 2.81
Matter of the B. W. Conor claim for replacing of pipe refered to
the Water Committee .
Mayor made the apointment of Mr. B. M. VCHue for City Engineer , and
upon motion , the apointment was unanimously rejected .
The Mayour relinquished hid right of appointment , in the matter of
a City Engineer, and the Council , upon motion , appointed Mr. L. E.
Strahm Engineer; all members voting "Aye" except Councilman Hatt who
voted "Nay" .
Upon motion the City Atty. was instructed to prepare a Building
ordinance , for submission to the Council .
Councilman E. H. Naden was elected Mayor Protem, rafter which and
no further business appearing , the meeting , upon motion , did adjurn .
