KENT , WASHINGTONI DUNE 17 , 1912.
Regular meeting of the Council; present Mayor Bereiter and
Counciilmen Boucher , Coble, Pulp , Hardy, Harper and Haden.
minutes of Jane 3 and June I0 read and approved.
Ordinance # 303 , vacating portions of Shinn Street was read,
placed upon its final passage and carried by the SEWIDeus vote
of all of the Councilmen present.
Ordinance # 306 , providing for the improvement of Clark Street
was read and no protest having been filed,the same was placed
upon its final passage and carried by the unanimous vote of all
of the Councilmen present.
Ordinance # 305 , providing for the improvement of Raden Street,
was read and Mr. Bowen on behalf of Mrs. Barbee , one. of the
abutting property owners, made a verbal protest , which was not
allowed, after which the said ordinance was placed upon its
final passage and carried by the unanimous vote of all of the
Councilmen present.
Ordinance # 304, providing for the improvement of Shinn St. ,
was read, a protest having been filed against the said improve-
ment and duly considered, it was moved and seconded that the same
be not allowed, motion carried, by the following vote: Council-
men Boucher, Coble, Pulp, Hardy and Harper voting "aye" and
Councilman Nadu► voting "nay" , the said ordinance # 304, was
then upon motion placed upon its final passage and carried by
the following vote: Councilmen Boucher , Coble, Fulp, Hardy and
Harper voting "aye" and Councilman Naden voting "nap."
The following resolution setting time for hearing the assessm-
ent roll for improvement Dist. # I24 was read and adopted un-
animously:
IT IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT: That
the 15" day of July, 1912 , at the hour of 8 o'clock P. M. , at
the Council Chamber in the City Hall, at Kent , Washington, be
and the same is fixed as the timrt and place for hearing of the
assessment roll for Local Improvement District # I24, for the
paving of Second Street , Gowe Street and Titus Street , in the .
said city;
That the City Clerk be and is hereby diredted to publish in
the official newspaper of the City of Kent , notice thereof as
required by law and the ordinances of the said City.
The following resolution setting time for the hearing of the
Assessment Roll for improvement District # I25 was read and
adopted Unanimously:
IT IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF KENT: That
the 15" day of Tuly, 1912 , at the hour of 8 o 'clock P. M:, at
the Council Chamber in the City Hall , at Kent , Washington, be
and the same is foxed as the time and place for hearing on the
assessment roll for Local Improvement Dist. # I25 , for the
paving of Meeker Street , and Gowa Street in the said City.
That the City Clerk be and is hereby diredted to publish in the
official newspaper of the City of gent , notice thereof as re-
quired by law and the ordinances of the said City.
The following resolution, # 131 , declaring intention to
,make improvement was read and unanimously adopted:
IT is resolved by tits City Council of the City of Kent , in
King County State of Washington, that it do, and it does here-
by declare its intention of improving that portion of Rail-
road Avenue between Titus Street and Willis Street , also that
portion of Willis Street connecting Railroad Avenue in the Wash-
ington Central ImprovementA Company 's First Addition to Kent ,
with- Railroad Avenue in the original townsite of Kent ,
By placing along the west side of said portion of Railroad

necessary , and along ttie north side of said Willis Street a
wooden sidewalk to connect the said sidewalk along Railroad
Avenue with the existing sidewalk of[ the north side of Willis
Street at a point about 50 feet west of the northwest corner
of Railroad Avenue and Willis Streets; and doing such other
work as may be necessary in connection therewith , all in acc-
ordance with plans and specifications to be prepared by the Cit y
Engineer.
That all persons who may desire to object to the said improve-
ment are hereby notified to appear and present such objections
at a meeting of the City Council to be held in the Council Ch-
amber , in the City Hall , in the City of Kent , at S o 'clock P.E. ,
on the 158 day of July, 1912 , which time add place is hereby
fixed for the hearing od all matters relating to said Improve-
ment , and all objectidns thereto , and for determining the method
of payment for said improvement.
That the City Clerk is directed to subruit to the City Cluncil
at or prior to said date , all data and information required by
law to be so submitted.
That the soot and expense of said improvement shall be borax
by and assessed against the property liable therefor as provided
by law.
The following resolution,` 132 , declaring intention to make
improvement , was read and unanimously adopted:
IT is retblved by the City Council of the City of Kent , in
King County , State of Washington , that. it do and it does hereby
declare its intention of improving that portion of Titus Street
lying between State Avenue and Kennebeck Avenue ,
By placing long the north side thereof a wooded sidewalk with
such crossing walks as may be necessary to form connection
with existing walks , and doing such other work as may be neceos-
ary in connection therewith, all in accordance with plans and sp-
ecifications to be prepared by the City Engineer.
That all persons who may desire to object to said Improve-
ment are hereby notified to appear and present such objections
- at a meeting of the City Council to be held in the Council
Chamber , in the City Hall , in the City of[ gent , at S o'clock
P. M. , on the 150 day of July 1912 , which time and place is
hereby fixed for the hearing of all matters relating to said
improvement , and all objections , thereto , and for determining
the method of payment for said improvement.
That the City Clerk is directed to submit to the City Council
at or prior to said date , all date and information required
by law to be so submitted.
That the cost and expense of said improvement shall be borne
by and assessed against the property liable therefor as provided
'ay law.
A deed from Mr E. J. Decker , to the City of Kent , of land for
street purposes was presented to the Council which was accepted
by the adoption of the following resolution:
WHEYWAS: Elmer J. Decker and Cora E. Decker have tendered to the
City a deed to the following described tract of land, towit;-
Beginning at a point which is 13.3 feet west of the north
east corner of lot 2 in block 4 of the original town plat of
Sent , run thence west along the north side of said lot 2 a
distance of 60 feet , thence in a straight line to the south
east corner of lot I0 in said block 4, thence north along the
east line of said block 4 to a point which is 10 feet north
` of the south east corner of said lot 2 , thence in a straight
line to the point of beginnLAg; for street purposes, to be deedsd
to the City on payment of $ 300.00 and the vacation of that
motif 'of State Avenue lying to the east of said tract and it
appearing to tke Council that the said described tract Is necess-
-ar$ to make the said State Avenue a practicable street and the
said street being a main thoroughfare and the price therefore
being considered reasonable, It is therefore:-

RESOLVED, that the said deed be and' is hereby accepted and the
amount asked for the property is hereby allowed and ordered
p6id, and it is further resolved, that steps be taken at once
looking to the vacation of that portion of State Avenue lying
east of the said described tract.
A petition asking for the vacation of part of State Avenue.in the Orig. Plat of Kent was read and the following resolut-
ion in relation to the same was read and adopted:
WHEREAS , A petition has been presented to the City Council
and filed with the City Cleric, asking for the vacation of the
following described portion of State Avenue in the City of Kent ,
towit:
Beginning at the north east corner of block 4 in the original
town plat of Kent , run thence east to the north west corner
of block 7 in said plat , thence south along the west line of
said block 7 to the south west corner of lot 5 in said block
7, thence in a straight line to a point in the east line of
lot 2 in said block 4 which is IO feet north of the south
east corner of said lot 2 , thence north to the beginning;
which petition appears to be signed by the owners of more
than two thirds of the property abutting on the portion of
the said str?et which the petitioners ask to habe vacated ,
it is therefore ,
RESOLVED, that Monday July 15 1912 , at the hour of S o'clock
D. M. , at the Council Chamber in the City Hall at Kent , Wash-
ington, be and the same is hereby fixed as the time and place
for hearing the said petition and all objections that may be
made thereto; and the City Clerk IS hereby directed to give
notice of Such hearing and the pendency of the said petition
as by law provided.
Upon motion the Council did then adjourn ,
