HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Meeting - Council - Minutes - 09/23/1974 O9 Kent, Washington September 238 1974 A special meeting of the Kent City Council was Balled to order at 8:00 p.m. Present: Mayor Hogan, Councilpersons: Baff aro, Johnson, Just, Kitto, Masters', McCaughan and Storment, City Attorney Mirk, Public Works Director Ulett, City Administrator Street, Finance Director Winkle. Also present: City Treasurer Drotz, Hill, Ingman '& Chase representative Ramsey. BIDS Horseshoe Acres Storm Water Pumping Station Building and Equipment . Mayor Hogan -noted that fr � the special meeting was..called• in order to review the bids on the Horseshoe Acres Pumping Station Building and Equipment. City Admini- strator Street noted that . the Council had received copies of the bid tabulations and that the Engineering Department had recommended : 1) Acceptance of the bid of Calhoun Constructioh Company, Alternate II, on the Pumping Sta- tion, in the amount of $105,965 .50, including tax; 2) ' Acceptance of the bid of Instrument Laboratory on the engines in the amount of $31, 716. 36, including tax; and 3) Acceptance of the bid of The Byron Jackson Pump Division of Borg Warner for the up mps in the amount of $32,544.02, including tax, on which a 30-day hold had been placed at the Council meeting of September 3, 1974. JUST MOVED to accept all of the above bids, Masters. seconded . McCaughan stated that he would like to officially ,go on record that he thought the City should go ahead on this project before it costs more money, get the project completed, and get on to the next pro- ject. Just stated he would also like to go on record as being in favor of the project and noted that the City has other projects in other areas which must now be attended to, as soon as possible . McCaughan further noted that it was his understanding that the City has already made a commitment ,of Federal Revenue Sharing Funds to take care of the storm drainage problem. Masters noted that storm water control was a particular concern of hers and that she felt this project was a step toward economically stabilizing a prime commercial area of the City, since we are working towards an indus- trially oriented City. Baffaro agreed with Masters, noting that damage caused by flood waters would be much greater than the amount that is being spent on this. project. Motion carried, with Kitto voting nay. FINANCE City Administrator Street noted that the Finance Committee will meet at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25 , 1974, to review and approve those bills received on or before September 18, 1974.
