September 27, 1971
Special meeting of the Kent City Council was called to order
at 8:20 p.m. Present: Mayor Hogan, Councilmen: Baff aro, Barnier,
Elliott, Masters and Martell, City Attorney Mirk, City Engineer
Sherwood and Planning Director Harris
Mayor Hogan noted that the purpose of the special meeting was
to consider a revised ordinance to provide for a special election
in connection with library bonds.
The City Attorney introduced Ordinance 1741, providing for addi-
tions to the library, and further providing for a special election
to be held on November 2nd to enable the voters to decide on whether
the City of Kent should borrow $300 ,000 and issue General Obligation
Bonds to cover the cost of the improvements to the library building,
including parking.
Mirk noted that Ordinance 1741 also repeals Ordinance 1737 which was
passed on September 7th. He noted that the new ordinance was necessary
to provide additional information required by the Election Department.
MASTERS MOVED to adopt Ordinance 1741 , Barnier seconded, motion
carried.
The meeting adjourned at 8 :40 p.m.
