Correction to the minutes of April 1fj, 1-960 : The vote on the new Taxi Cab locati-on Was motion carried but Cbuncilman Shinners refrained from voting. Councilman Shinners voted ney on the Teenage Bldm, addition. The advertising date of the Out_fall Serer bid was May 4, 1960 and not the opening date. End of corrections. Mr. Sherwood, City Engineer, announced that the Metro meeting would be held May 23 , 1960, 7 :30 P.M. City Hall, Kent , Washington. Motion was made, duly seconded and passed to confirm the date. The Gity Engineer reported on the Collin 's letter. lie stated that the committee finds no quarrel with his demands but all points have not been settled as yet and a final- report will be submitted. at the next Council meeting. The City Engineer reported that he had contacted various people who had vacations of streets in the process. Bowen Scarff's intentions are to proceed with the vacation under the new policy. The rest have not answered as to whether th ey wish to proceed with the vacation under the new policy. The City Engineer announced the action of the Planning Commission on the contours of the gravel pit that Bay Construction I is going to develop. The Engineer suggested that some of the contours should be revised and thb P12nni_ng Commission suggested that the Council have the Construction Co. take out a Bond for our protection. Mr. Watson was present representing the Lay Construction Co. on the gravel operation. Quite a discussion followed . irhether or not the Planning Commission had oked the contour or crusher work at this point . The Bay Gonstructio man announced that if this was the case they would haul the gravel out of the area and crush it at another location. He couldn 't see wiry lie needed a permit to remove gravel from his property and whether or not contours entered into it in this case. Motion was made by Councilman Shinners and was seconded by Councilwoman Novell to defer action for 2 weeks . Motion carried. Curran refrained. Matter .turned gv'er-to the City Engr. and the City Attorney for study: ' The City Engineer requested of' the * Council that he and Mr.Dent Asst Engr. be allowed to ,attend the Public Works Convention at - Wenatchee, May 10, 11, 1960. Motion was made, duly seconded and passed to allow Mr. Sherwood and Pir. Dent to attend the Public Works meeting and use the Engineers car for transportation . Expenses paid. Gouncilwoman Novell stated that the State Health Dept. is interested in having a valuation of our Sewage Treatment Plant made. This was given to the attention of the City Engineer. Councilman Shinners proved, Gurran Seconded, to give permission to the property owners in the Kentwood Hills Addn. to hook to our dy sewer system. Councilman Pozzi stated that Mr. Erath, who contracts the � E garbage pickup in the north end said that he should have more money because moving the dump to Bow Lake makes a lot longer haul. Gouncilman Pozzi said thatthis would work itself out. The water contract with Capital Construction Co. for the Park Orchard addition reouires a -Dump station on the water line. The Council feel that now is the time for Capital Construction to install this pump station before they start developing this new addition and building more houses on higher gee-ound because the water pressure is very low. Motion was made, duly seconded and passed for the Clerk to write a _letter to Capital Construction informing them it is time for them to install the pump station. Councilman Shaffer reminded everyone of the Washington Cities Convention in Wenatchee next week. Yasuo Narita filed damage claims against the City up to $9,000.00 ,for conditions caused by the flood overflowing the effluent from the Sewage Treatment Plant onto his ground. Mr. Thatcher, Gity Atty. stated that the claim was turned over to our, Insurance Carrier. Nothing is settled in this matter. Mr. Thatcher reported for Mr. Campbell, who was present, on the moving of buildings off the alley which Mr. Campbell is so interested in. Mr. Trus is building a mew house and will move his old house off the alley when the new one is complete. Mr.Sdhramm will move his shed as soon as Mr. Trus moves hii house. Mr. Oakes will distroy his building on the alley. This alley will be free of huildinFs sooner or later. continued : Councilwoman Bovell reported that the Kent Safety Council has been recognized by the Governor of Washington and would like to present a citation to Pairs . Harold Danielson a member, thereof. Councilman Curran moved to. set the date of .the presentation for Jun.e .6, 1960, $:30 P 'M. at the regular Council meeting. Motion was made for the Clerk to write a letter to Governor Rosellini and a. copy to the Safety Council giving the date of the presentation. corrected-refer to Motion was made for the City Engineer to contact the minutes of 5-16-60 firm that is running the gravel crusher at the Kent Highlands.
