Report 'of Officers, Clerk 's , Treasurer ' s , BudFet. Bids were presented to the Citi- Council which were opened on January 29, 1960, at 3 P.M. for Police car, Inspector's car, and Water Dept . Pickup. Bids were referred for study to committees. Police car and Inspectors cnr to the Folice and Fire Committee and Water Dept . PAckur to the irvater Committee. * Mr. Sherwood recommended that the City accept 5th Ave . N. between Winner and Cloudv and Claudv Street from 4th to 5th as a gravel street . Mr. Sherwood requested permission for Donald. Dent and Herb Wilke to attend the school on Sani_tary Sewer Installation in Seattle on February 2 , 1960 . Motion vas mode to nrantl the request . Motion seconded and yass& . The City Engineer announc& that there vauld be a Drainage meeting at Kenton, Thursday, February 4, 10,bO at 10. A.K. Any Councilmen that wished to attend are invited.. Councilman Pozzi moved, was duly seconded end ressed for the City EnFr. , Mr. Sherwood to attend said meeting. Councilman Woodworth stated he would have a more comrlete report on the request for information can limited parking areas. Councilman Scott reported on last Saturdays meeting v_i th Brett Smith and Land Cif Fakes Development , Tne . The Sewer Committee were present and Councilmen Curran and Sheffer were invited to attend. Thev discussed the extention of the Rrett Smith sewer. The decision qrrived at was not unpnimous. Councilman Scott dial not concur with the decision so would let Councilman Woodworth make the motion. Councilman �^:�ood�,:orth moved that Brett Smith r av 2 the cost of the Land 01 Lakes sewer line , str rting from the man hole at the school and ending at the manhole closest to Brett Smith's property. Mr. Brett Smith was present and stated he had erranped with the proper City Officials to r av the fee for the sewer. Now it seems that Land 0 ' bakes has something to say about; it and that it is contrary to the information he was given, namely that he could hook up to the server for a 0�)10.00 connection fee. Having let the contract , he was at the mercy of the Council, but felt that undue costs had been levied agpins! him. Councilman Woodworths motion cprr:i.ed, Scott voted ney, Pozzi refrained. Councilman Curran read a letter on Ilighline School Dist. application for the water main to run into their new building. Motion was made to not, take any action on letter at this time. We will take no action as long as the area is under attach. Motion carried. Letter regarding District (Water) #75 's Flans to extend their water mains through the city streets to serve People on the outside was referred to Mr. Gay. Councilman Stv ai_n moved to instruct the Cit>> Clerk to authorize P.S . P. A L. Co. to install three (3 ) street lights on W. Gowe St. between 5th :end 6th Ave;: . Also four (4) residential street lights on So. 243rd. Motion duly seconded and passed . Councilman Shaffer said the comoittee on Public Hearings was starting on February 22 , 1960 , discussing zoning. Other meeting dates will follow but dates are tentative. Councilmen Shaffer will get the schedule to the Council as soon as possible. Shaffer stated that the Planning Commission OK 'd the vacation of Saar Street . Councilman Shaffer made a motion for the vacation of Saar Street by having the attorney moke notices for a Bearing on February ln , 1960. Motion was made for Councilman Curran to work up a policy for the dale of Citv streets to the abutting property owners when they request vacation of said streets. continued: Councilman Shaffer had Mr. Eckl- nd_s s1 aternent of Insurance business. Mr. DeLong and. his neighbors on 21IOth Street recuested a nei,• water main to hook up to a nei� house at the end of the street . Councilman Shaffer moved that a nev, 6" main be put in ,,rid charged. to the property owners. After lengthy discussion motion was m<ad_e to table the motion. Mr. Hauge appeared at the Council meetin,v and t,;aater, to know why his plat #3 was riot in order. He felt lie i-as riot being- treated right. The Cit�l would not 1-ike to see unpla -ted. nrorerty developed :in the area of Knob Hill. Special committee with Street Committee appo=inted to look into the Hauge plat and make a study of conditions. P r. Brett Smith announced he would like to have a letter on the conditions and regulations on water mains that lie brill extend into his property. Mayor Thornton said he had Mayor Thornton said he had received a letter from the Chamber of Commerce setting up the committee to have meeting with City Officials to discuss B 0 Tax. Mayor Thornton appointed a committee, Councilmen Curran and Shaffer and the City Clerk, to meet with the Chamber of Commerce on B '' 0 Tax , Feb. 17, 1960 at 6 A.M. Councilman Shinners reported that Dean Barlow of Deans Touring Service was not getting his percentage of calls through the KPD He nl,,-ced on file with the Clerk the calls he did and didn 't receive between January 6, 1960 and January 28, 1960. The ratio is 3-8.
