Regular meeting of the City Council present Mayor Mooney,
Councilmen Curran, Parsons,Pozzi, Scott , Shaffer, Strain, T
Thornton;
Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting of
the council ;
Report of officers presented and filed, Bufget, Treasurer,
and Clerk' s;
Councilman Scott reported that he had no report on the North
Central Sewer situation.
Motion passed to make final payment to Valley Construction Co
and warrent not to be delivered as payment until after the
20th. of November, and that if no claims are filed aCD
gainst the
City.
Councilman Pozzi reported to the council on the Perrin Street
and it would cost the city about �2, 500.00. 14otion passed by
the council after discussion, and from interested parties
from the floor, that the city has not the money for the
improvement of this street , and for Mr. Perrins to go back
to his original plan as modified, and riot to open street on
Summit Ave.
Three water connections were submitted by the Engineer, and
recommended for council action, Motion passed to grant the
connections, .Albert Anderson, J.I'4.Well s, and E.W.Evans.
Motion passed to accept the Engineers recommendation for a
change order on the Taylor Job at" the reservoir on East Hill
at Kenwood Attenue , for the installation of a by-pass, Contract
1 , Change order No. three.
Letter read" from Einar Johnson on Rock Creek Job # 5 wanting
an extension of time of 30 days, on account of so much silt.
Motion- passed, to extend the time on Rock Creek Intake Job,
Contract 5. for 30 days.
M10tion passed to have the P4ayor & Clerk sign a change order
or Contract 1i= at Rock Creek Intake for additional gravel.
Councilman Curran recommended a Transmitter & Receiver in-
stalled. in the new water pickup truck, I=lotion passed to
purchase a transmitter & Receiver for the water truck, and
installation of same .
Motion passed to have the Mayor & Clerk sign contract of
the N.P. Railway as presented by the City Attorney, for a
water pipe line to go under their tracks near Danville.
Motion passed to recess for 15 minutes to consider proposals
from various Bonding Companies, on LID 237 Bonds and Warrents.
Motion passed to reconvene, an Motion passed to call for bids
at a public sale for bonds and warrents for LID 237.
City Engineer reported on the man that requested water &
sewers on the west highway,on the south side of Morton St.
that he was Prot interested in the utilities at this time.
Motion passed that the water line be lowered as required
by P-ir. Perrins , at PIr. Perrins expense.
Street Committee to talk over drainage with Mr. Perrins
than referred to Street Foreman & Engineer, but not to
actualy do the work.
Mr. Dunbar attended the meeting and stated that he had been
in*! a hearing" in Seattle on the Metro Plan, for the Planning
Commission of Kent , and requested a 10 day extension on the
hearing, and they granted a week, and he said he requested
the South line' of the Metro District to terminate on 180th.
that would delete the City of Sent , he said that this ex-
tension of time on the hearing would give the people in Kent ,
and the outside a little more time to study the plan.
Mr. McDermott spoke as a citizen on the Plan, and also Mr.
Sipe Secretary' of bur Planning Commission, the both did not
favor the Plan for Kent at this time .
Mr. Larry Costello spoke very strong against the Plan for
Kent at this time and the surrondirig area. very interesting
discussion was had for and against the I=letro Plan for Kent.
Motion passed by roll call vote to delete the City of Kent
from the Metro Plan; Curran ney. Shaffer ney, Parsons not
present , Strain Refrained, Thornton yea, Scott yea, Pozzi yea.

Motion passed to have the Clerk send a registered letter
to .the Clerk of the Board of King County Commissioners,, giving;
the information of the action of the council on the Metro Plan.
Motion passed instructing the clerk to write a letter to
each of the Congressman and U. S.Senators of our district."
Jackson, Dlagnusoniand Tollefson, asking them if they would i
assist us in getting; the snatching money from the Government
for our Comprehensive Plan.
Motion passed to have the clerk write a letter to .,lr. Bugge
State Highway Director and inform him that Ivan Block & Assoc .
were our Planning Engineers and that for his office to give
them the cooperation that was needed.
Council ask the Mayor if he too would help in getting the
matching money by contacting -the Senators.
Motion passed to have the Mayor &; Clerk sign the agreement
with City Transfer for' the resurfacing the Reiten Rd. where
LID 236 Sewer vaent in.
Resolution No.386 read and passed to set a hearing on the
Waller & Tonelli Annexation, 16th. day of December 1957 at
810' clock P.M. City Hall..
Resolution No. 3$7 (387) passed the vote of the Council
creating a Construction Fund for LID 237 for the purpose of
paying all of the costs of the improvements.
Motion- passed to purchase a used electric typewriter and
stand for the clerk' s office.
Letter read from R.W.Roberts at Lake 1,1eridian in regard
to the city taking over a new water main if installed.
Letter of request refered to the water. coi11mit1;ee.
Letter read from Foster & Marshall a bonding house in
Seattle , stating that they had "�7 ,000.00 worth of our Sewer
bonds for sale and wanted to know if t1le city Serer Funds
would be interested, or any other funds that had a surplus.
this matter was refered to the finance committee,
Letter from the Governor' s Conference at Olympia on safety
was read and a motion that any one interested in the meeting
should attend.
Letter from System Builders wanting a water main installed
was read and they would place money in escrow with the clerk
for the amount of the main. Motion passed to have the Clerk
get the escrow money and when so done the water main will
be placed in the ground and the System Builders pay at the
cost of the job.
Letter from L.G.Massart Plb. & Htg. Co/. requewting 45
days of extension on their contract. Motion passed to give .
Massart and extension of time of 45 calendar days. , and
also reduce the landscaping around the pump house by $300.00
and let the water department employees do the job. , this is
the request of Massart Plbg. & Htging Co.
Mayor Mooney says he was in section 36, and some of the
people in that section' would like to have water, and would
like to annex to the ciyy.
