Bids were operated. on Lost hole l_i tag at Dock Creek, three i
bids were opened anal read, and two ,•iere received and read
for a car load of cast iron pipe , motion passed to recess
for ten minutes for study of the bicls.Council reconvened and
by motion passed ,to Iet the drilling Tay ovor till ne.t
me-eying for study, and the low bid on the, cast -iron vrater pipe
was awarded to Pacific States Cast ,Iron. Pipe Co, for 110-78
per ft. laid down in our Stock Yard.
Dr. Owen Taylor was present at th(r men tirig and advised the
council that the-,, should be prf,s(-nt -t, t}1„ Jr. IIi.n;h School-
next monday at a meeting on the Librgty' issue, + that there
would be a very fine speaker there , the head librarian of
the U o-� W.
Mr. Sherwood rE�ported that the north fourth ave . project
with the R.R.Company was complete and would ready for city
acceptance when at such time they would raise the spur track.
Councilman Scot; reported that the second operator at the
Treatment Plant has quit , and Mr. Clements drove over to
BoO,i'e Idaho for tp seQure, another operator. Also reported on
the trunk sewer pzogress it could be better.
Councilman Scott also had a letter of protest from TIT,.
Walter Clark that he was charged double on his Utilities
on account that he was doing a small_ husi.nee from his house,
Nioti.on passed. to credit his double payment, and place him
back on the singlo dwelling rate.
Mr. Sherwood presented the petition on the vacation of an
alley near Clark Street, that l4r. 1111ilson presented, and the
vacation would not inter.fer with progress. I,Iotion passed to
refer to the Planning Commission.
Letter read from 14r. Jarvis, and signed by 1'Ir. Love and
Wagoner, granting per•mmission to Mr. Jarvis to cdnstruct a
car port on the street line, that they had no objections.

through Mr. Sherwood .
Letter read from Tir. Thorgrimson stating that if the LID
for street improvements would go through that his fee would
be 51�1,150.00, and if was voted down he would only take a fee
of $ 100.00 for an intention resolution. Mr. Hill of the Firm
of Hill & Ingman was present and stated that the hearing
on LID would be June llth. .
Motion passed to &Ccept Mr. Thorgrimson offer as stated
in the letter of April 17 , 1957.
City Engineer' s recommendation on the Shipley water application
is to not grant the connection, on account of the dispute be-
yween Mr. Shipley &. Picnik. Motion passed to accept the Engineers
recommendation.
Mr. Sherwood reviewed the Bigley water application on his
present line and recommended it still be rejected. Motion passed
to not permit Nir. Bigley to connect to the system on his present
line.
Letter read from Mr. Fitts at Lake Mericlain, requesting water
from the City and intended to create a water district, and have
a master meter for the district, Councilman Curran would O.K.
such a move, and a letter to Mr. Fitts stating that if they
furnish all. pressure pumps, pipe, of the recommended size , and
master meter.
Motion passed to arrange with Mr. Janke for to pay 2 of a
six inch main and the City to pay half, from the west hiway to
the pumping station on the trunk sewery and fire hydrant on end .
Motion passed to instll_ no smoking signs in the large room in
the City Hall, and to have the flag standards returned to the
council, room.
Motion passed to remove street light standard on First Ave. in
Bank dri -eway and have the Power Co repair damaged cable caused
by City Transfer, and for City Transfer pay the bill. continued.

Motion passed to have the Clerk to instruct the Power Co. to
wire' around the li It standard that has been, removed.
Building committee to sell old piano, owing to tile. fact that
it is moved around so much that it causes damage to the new tilP
floor.
Motion passed to allow $22500.00 for the Ranney site.
Letter from the Planning Commission be referred to Councilman
Shaffer on location of access highway through Kent .
Mr. Hill� of Hill & Ingman recommended that the Plan & System
Ordinance not be read until next meeting, and a meeting of all
the council be held for and over all explaination meeting on
the plans of tree Engineers and the Water Obairman. Motion
passed to have a meeting May 8th. wed. at 7;90 P.M. .
Letter of recommendation of the Engineering Department to
pay the amount of $300.00 to the Lake City Gravel Co, which
was held back on their contract until at such time the Alley
in question was resurfaced this being complete. Motion passed
to pay the final 00.0.00.
Motion passed to have the Treasurer invest such funds that
might be available in our LID bonds.
Motion passed to sign service and maintenance contract with
Monroe Co. for maintenance on Engineer' s !,.Lachine.
Resolution No. 373 passed the unanimous vote of the council
present Franchise Bond of 3000.00 dollars.
Resolution No. 374 passed the vote of the council for the
State of Washington to take monies from our gas tax allotment
to complete LID 232.
Resolution No. 375 setting a hearing on a sewer LID on the
Reiten rd.Woodland Drive Chicago, and View Place.Hearing to
be held June 3rd. 1957.
Ordinance No. 949 passed toe vote of the Council present,
amending Section 3 & 4 Ordinance 943•
