HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Meeting - Council - Minutes - 04/15/1957 I',:ent , Washington April. 15, 19576 Regular meeting of the City Council present Mayor illooney, Councilmen, Curran, Parsons, Pozzi, Scott, Shaffer, Strain, Thornton; 0fficers reports presented and filed; Treasurers, .Clerkts and Bugdet ; j City Engineer reported that he and his asst. attended the meeting at MountLake Terrace, and if was a very fine meeting it was mostly in r(,gard to the new LID laws. and the next meeting will be in Tacoma, the subject grill_ be on highways. Engineer reported that he checked with the new Bank on drainage , and by motion passes the street and -finance co- mmittee to work out a program with the i;ngineer, for storm drainage from the new Bank bldg. on First 4 1,Ieeke.r. Engineer also reported that he has been working withthe R.R.Co on the improvement of 1+Uh. Ave. North, and they tirill pay .for the material used on the stye t to bring it up to proper grading specifications. Councilman Thornton rc�comrnended that there be, two hour signs placed on the both sides of State Ave . between Smith 8Ward. Motion passed to accept the recommendation and for the stre t crew to install th- Councilman Scott announced to the council that the Sewer Job- was progressing on time now and most likley would be complete by yhe 8th. of May. Councilman Curran reported on the Robertson report on Rock Creek , and the recommended amount of money to complete the report by actual work at the source winch would be about $10, 500.00. Motion passed to have the Engineers employe Mr. Robertson. Motion passed to employ* I^.r. Randall to procure the ease- ment for the transmission line from Rock Creek to the Kent Springs, and .for Mr. Curran to set the terms with Mr. Randall_. Mr. Thatcher reported on the 5 acre purchase for the Tank reservoir on East Hill ) Motion passed to have the City Attorney purchase the property as price submitted. T,'Iotion passed to accept deed of ease:iient from Ilauge-Arms -- trong, for transmission main azld release the old easement , where the transmission line eras riot placed in 1930,and for the Attorney to insert the line and vol. of the county _record in the easement, and +nclude the triannler piece for the pump station for water line pressure, and for the release of old easement only in the Arms-creso addition. Mayor made an appointment to the Appeal Board, Mr. Owen Buxton, and requested the Councilts Confirmation on same, - by motion passed Mr. Buxton was appointed. Mr. Thatcher announced- that the P. S.P.&-.L.CO will not give right-a-way to the Blue Banner Building down the old Interuban right -way. Councilman Str in announced that the Cemetary road has been lit& up with a number of street lights. Motion passed to have the Clerk give figures on B & 0 Tax. Motion passed to have the finance cominitteee contact Mr. Thor. gremson on the LID bond issued that is coming in the near future for and opinion on same. Petition read for restriction of parking on North Strube north of Smith. Street to Pioneer, and for Safeway to provide parking for its employees. Ordinance No. 948 passed for the authorizing the I''Iayor and Clerk to issue bonds against LID 234. Petition received for the extension of the City Sewer that runs to t�e High- School about 300 ft . 104zt of the Peterson Rd. Motion passed for the clerk to call for a car load of 10" cast Iron Water Pipe by bids. Strain voting njy. Motion passed to proceed to get easements for water main and if needf to bring condemnation proceedings. Mr. Evenson Foremen of ,the Water works request permission to attend the water Works Convention at Tacoma. Motion passed to grant request with his expenses paid. On Monday evenning April 8, in the City Hall_ a meeting of the council was held with Mr. . McKay of the highway Engineer- ir r Department, and they disccused indefinate plans for a , thru*' ray highway and its location. also &Ir. Shaffer explained the topic of Urban RenuwAl. Request was made for the installation of a phone for the recreation Director Mr. Barney Wilson, but; was rejected.
