Regular meeting of the- City Council present Mayor Mooney,
Councilmen Curran, Parsons, Pozzi, Scott, Shaffer, Strain,
Thornton;
Minutes of the previous meeting read and approved;
City Engineer Sherwood made a report on the letter from
Mr. Garth Anderson stating that he was up for the draft with
in the year , and would not be able to accept the appointment
of Asst. Engineer.
Councilman Curran announced that on the eveVning of Jan.28th,
the councilman had a me,Aing, with the Engineers from Hilt &
Ingman the H.P.Pratt Co for Finance and our own City Engineer
Mr. Sherwood, for to secure a greater source of water.
Mr. Riley Atkins of H.P.Pratt & Co was present at the
council meeting and announced that the council could sell
$700,000.00 worth of water revenue bonds without a raise of
the water rates, for the three water propositions at hand,
as recommended by our engineers. Mayor Mooney ab asked the
question if this amount of money "$700,000.00 could be raised
without a raise of the water rates , this Mr. Atkins assured
' the Mayor that was no need for a raise in the water rates.
Letter read from Blue- Banner Foods offering a rental of
269.03 per month based on thirty five cents per square ft. ,
or if the city would rather sell the building we would be in-
terested in the purchase of same.-
Motion passed to call for bids on the sale of the City Build-
ing noWrented to Blue Banner Foods.
Chet Woods was called. upon to tell the council what the
8700,000.00 bond issue for the water system would. intai;,
294,000.00 would lay a transmission line to the, line now in
service now from the Kent Springs about 20,000 ft. west of
Rock Creek source, and the partial development of the source,
and place a pumping station in the line for pressure over the
gravity source pressure. $123,000.00 for the development of
the proposed East Hill system. and $260,000.00 for the proposed
North End annnexation. Councilman Curran made a motion and
passed to accept the recommendation of the Engineering Firm. ,
and to proceed as rapidly as possible with East Hill and
alternate C. , as outlined as oral recomendation, and with
north end industrial main, and construction. work at Rock Creek
and test present Transmission line for additional pump pressure.
Motion passed to have the clerk write a letter to biro. 1
Engineering Virm, to inform them of the action of the council,
to proceed with a new source of water from Roc.k Creek.
Motion passed to instruct H.P.Pratt & Co to proceed with a
Plan & System Ordinance for a $700,000.00 bond issue.
Motion to take option on about 4 acres of Mr. Guy Rileyts
property, 2 mile north of the Porter Bridge at Auburn, where
the Ranny Well Co drove a test well hole.
Motion passed to have the Mayor & Clerk sign Easement and
option on Guy F.Rileyts four acres, where well test was made
for acess.
Motion passed to have Mr. Chet Woods of Hill & Ingman get
the report on the test hole at the Guy Riley place, from the
Ranney Co.
Motion passed to have the Engineers proceed to get water
rights from the State for the maximum on the Riley placep
as shown by the Ranney Report .
Motion passed to go on record in favor of acquisition of
the Obrien Water System, and to have meeting with the Obrien
water Board.
Scott reported on the Valley Construction Estimate No-3
on the trunk sewer line.
Motion passed to have garbage truck repaired up to 200.00
dollars.
Councilman Thornton moved and passed to den'' the crosswalk
requested by, the Firestone Store on North Central.

Councilman Thornton reported on parking time for contractors
and suggested a rate to pay but it; was not tnken to wel.1, and
more study was recommended.
Councilman Shaffer made mention that Hir. McKay Distract,
Engineer for the High-Way Department , will be in Kent Feb. 61
to look over steet programs with any one that is interested.
Councilman Curran reported that the council had a meeting
with the District Engineer and J.P.Haley Dist. Construction
Engineer and J.F.Champers District Aid Engineer last Monday
ev°enning at 7-P.M. laid out plans for limited access between
Auburn and Renton, and a meeting was set for the 2nd. Monday
at the City Hall in April.
Mr. Gerber had a request presented for the moving of the
East Titus street culvert to line up with .the creek and widen
the street at this point for two lane traffic. Referred to
the street committee.
Motion passed to make final payment on LID 234, as recommed-
ed by the City Engineer.
Motion passed to make final payment on LID 233 except to
hold three hundred dollars to repair alley that was defective.
as recommended by the City Engineer.
Water connections to be allowed to Mr. Hastings by motion
passed as presented by the application, and recommended by
the Engineer.
Resolution 370 passed by motion to set a hearing date for
the vacation of a portion of an alley, at the hour of 8' P.M.
on the 4th. day of March 1957.
Letter received from the Library Board, stating that they
would rather have the Library by the Post Office and in the
City Hall and recommended that the Police Court be moved up
stairs and that would give more room for the Police.
Building Committee to meet with the Library Board on the
Library moving subject .
Letter of proposal from the Green Sportsmen Club, that re-
quest the use of City Dump land for target range , referred to
Police Committee.
-Application for a sidesewer license granted by to Willie
J. •Belfield, and a rene al to Auburn Plumbing and Appliance.
Letter received from the County Commissioners stating that
-they were sorry but they could not improve our streets.
Bids were opened on the reroofing of the Bkue Banner Food
Building One from A-ssociated Roofing Co for $1,778.37. and
one from Bishop Roofing & Siding Co $1999.60. Bids were
placed in the hands of the Building Committee and Engineer.
Valley Construction warrent for the repair of the broken pipe
at the Desposal Plant was by motion rejected.
