Councilmen Curran, Parsons, Pozzi Scott , Shaffer, Str. ain)Thornton;
Motion passed to have the Mayor & Clerk sign a letter to the
Board of County Commissioners requesting; the County to give
some aid in the improvement of James Street, and request a
meeting with the Board as soon as possible.
Motion passed to have the Clerk write a letter to the Dist.
Engineer of the State Highway Department, and request streets
iinpVftergent• on East Smith, East Meeker and West. such as was
one on Central, and also include Central North ofiaJames Street .
Councilman Scott reported on the treatment plant being closed
down for two weeks during the flood weather, and sewage spreading
over the farmers land in the adjacent area.
Motion passed to have the City Engineer give the council an
idea as to the control of such a condition when the river is full
to the top of the dykes. -
Letter from Valley Construction Co that is doing our sewer and
lift station contract , requests a 45 day shut down on account
of the wet weather and the ,height of the river , also a complaint
was filed by Mr. Janke in regard to the condition that the
Valley Construction has left his property in, and that he
would. have . a Business failure if they did not make it
possible for customers to get into his place of business,
and to improve the acess road into his renters homes. also
Howard-Mfg. Co had a complaint- against the Contractors.
Mr. James 'Arcoracey President of the Valley Construction Co
was present and stated that alltthe requests would be made,
and he had not heard of most of the complaints until at this
time.
Motion passed to grant the Valley Construction Co their re-
quest for a phut down for 45 days, providing that Mr. Jankts re
quests were completed and for the Engineers- to see that it was
done as soon as- possible.
One bid received on the installation of a front door to the
City Hall, bid was read and by motion passed to accept the one
bid .from Mc Intyre Construction Co. for the amount of $1,6$7.50.
Hearing declared open for an annexation of property on the
south east of the Limits of Kent, no one objected so the hearing
was declared.closed and Ordinance read for the annexation and
b'Y motion passed to adopt the -ordinance., G3Y ?
Ordinance read on Carnivals, and etc . by motion passed.
Ordinance No. 931 the front page was changed.
City Engineer reported on LID 232 - 233 & 234 Motion made
to accept 233 ,and amendment was made to the motion if contractor
furnished a letter to the effect that he would repair the alley
in question, Motion passed and amendment.
Motion passed to accept LID 234.
Motion passed to install a larger motor in the Street Ford .
Dump truck, and for the Clerk to call for bids owing to the
estimates being over $500.00.
