Regular meeting of the City Council present i �a�Tor lIooney,
Councilmen Parsons, Pozzi, Scott, Shaffer, Strain, Thornton;

City Engineer reported that the Planning; Commission had
no objection on the vacation of the alley in Wamisley Addn.

Engineer Sherwood recorrimended that ,-1 call for bids be issued
for the laying of se.,rers in Drakes co;toneburnerf s Addn. Motion.
passed as recommended by the Engineer.
Mr. Hauge was present at th,,, rneetinF- cind the
acceptance of his street in llauge-Armstron,; Addition, and he
wished to place black -top on the finished street for acceptance.
if this was done the street comiilittee informed me that there
would have to be curbs and gutters, Arid this would be out of
the question for a builder to go to all this elpense. He was
informed that if he impraved the street according to the Engineer
specifications and oiled it for du:;t the council would accept
for maintenance. as other streets were accepted. Also I�ir Nauge
drew to the attention of the Council that he was contemplating
with going ahead with more: houses in thr� Larne area, but first
lie. would like to knoi-� about water mairis and water pressure arid
also sewer systems instead of septic tanks. lilayor requested of
the water committee to give this a good study and find a
solution for better water pressure on that part of the hill.
Motion passed for the City Attorney to draw resolution to
create a sewer district up the Cemetary Road from Clark St
up the hill to Chicago Street.
Councilman Thornton stated that the Kenoshia Street deal
was taken up with the School-Boajid again.
Smoke from the Garbage dump vaas brought up again, and. the
Mayor appointed the Finance Committee to look into the cost of
an incinerator for disposing of the garbage.
lVir. Woods From Hill & Ingman presented an easment franchise
fromt the state Highway Department for signature by the i'iayor
and to be returned to the Highway EngineF�rt s Department.
Petition was received from property owners on Woodford Ave.
requesting a cost of Curbs -Gutters- and Asphaltic Concrete, by
estimate of the City Engineer on a ten. year LID Plan.
Resolution read for coordination of benifits of Federal O.A.S.I.
coverage with benfits provided by the Statewide City Employees'
Retirement System with a reduction of two percent the present
contribution rate to the said system. I-lotiorx passed the unanious
vote of the Council present, adopting said resolution, and by Wit)
motion passed the clerk was appointed certifying officer.
Ordinance on dog controll was read, and.referred to the police
committee for study, and by motion passed was tabled for two
weeks.
Hearing was held for an emergency ordinance raising money for
Engineering, no one appeared against the issue . Ordinance no,
929 read on its second reading and by motion passed the unanious
vote of the council present.
Ordinance No. 930 read and by motion passed providing Bor the
issuance of '1'160,000.00 of Sewer revenue bonds, for the imprrove-
ment of the sewer system.
City Engineer recomended by letter various water connections
on the Lake Meridian water line. Motion passed to accept the
recommendation of the Engineer which is now on file in the Cllerkb
office.

14r. Woods of Hill & Ingman reported on the options he had
gotten on the property for the well drilling , cost of same
Motion passed to have Engineer excute signatures for property
for drilling purposes.
Motion passed for Engineers to proceed with paper work on
well project.
Mr. Penkc-,th of H.P.Pratt and Co spoke on the progress of
the financing; of the trunk sewer line and lift station.
Councilman Thornton- recorrirnended that; the traffic ordinance
be changed for Commerical Vehicles to obtain a permit for
loading and unloading for a fee. 14otion made to adopt the
recommendation, motion passed to table the motion. Also re-
commended that bail system be changed on parking meter
violations; adopt state law on drunk driving; Fix spped
limit on So. 212 th. st. from East; Valley Hiway to TIP tracks
at 35 miles per hour; Fix speed limit SSH 5A from Alvord St. to
94th Ave. South at 45 miles per hour. Motion passed to adopt
the recomdndations, Pozzi voting ney.
Motion passed to sell ditt that is acess on street jobs at
50cents per yard.
Motion passed to adjourn the meeting until August lOth.at
7;30 P.M. for the business of opening bids on the Trunk Seger
and lift station.
August 10th. 1956 Friday;
Adjourned meeting of the City Council present Mayor Mooney,
Councilmen Curran, Pozzi, Strain, Scott,Shaffer, Thornton;
Discussion on the lease with Blue Banner Foods, and the
reading of the lease.
At 8 P.M. the bids were opened and read for the construction
of a trunk sewer line and a lift station, seven bids were
received, and by motion passed. placed in the hands of the
Engineers and Health and Sanitation committee for study, and
for recommendation at the next regular meeting.
