HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Meeting - Council - Minutes - 07/16/1956 52 Kent , Washington July, 16, 1956• Regular meeting of the City Council present Mayor Mooney; Councilmen Curran, Parsons, Pozzi, Scott, Shaffer, Strain, Thornton. Minutes of the .last regular me4:ting read and approved; Councilman Curran required another two we-ks study on the P.S.P.&.L.COTs resolution for power at the East Hill Reservoir, Petition received from the sole owner of lots 12,34 in the Wamisey Addition requesting the vacation of the alley that runs North & South, . Petition turned over to the Engineer for study, and report back at the nest meeting. Mr. Eddie Persons was at the meeting , making a request of the council to have hie South Line of his property established ,and the location of Kenoshia Street , , The City Engineer reported that he could not give Mr. Persons a south line at this time on account of the proposition that the City might obtain from the School District, for a strip of ground to widen out Kenoshia Street to the Horth.The Street committee advised that they would make a study with the school board, as to ,the ,requirements for the street. Emergency Ordinance was resented and read on its first reading for approperating �RZ�, 800.00 out of the Sewer Revenue Fund for Engineering for the new Trunk Sever Line and Lift Station. Resolution passed to set the time and place for a hearing on the Emergency for the Sewer Department. Councilman �Parsons moved that the City Bldg. be placed on a portion of,the Blue Banner Site, City Attorney brought out the question. of the lease to the Blue Banner Co and stated that we had a right in the lease to use land for storage but not to use for buildings, amenment to the motion for the Attorney to take the matter up with thc� Blue Banner, v vote on the amemmement and passed als*otion passed. City Attorney announced to the council that he and I1r. Woods of Hill & In&,ian talked to the property owners at the site of the proposed well , about one hundred and fifty feet east of the old County River Road, Attorney submitted a proposition to them , for access rights would be t25-00 per month, and to purchase an acre at the price of 1500.00 where they might need it.Motion passed to accept the agreement as read for the City Attorney to negotiate with the land owners where the well is proposed. Mr. Woods reported on the progress of the lift station , and the trunk sewer line. Motion passed to call for bids on the Trunk Sewer and Lift Station, the bids to be published at the pleasure of our Engineering Firm, and bids to be opened at an adjourned meet- ing of August 10th. Letter read from Hill ' Engman on fee to be charged for survey of East Hill Annexed area for water supply, . Motion passed to instruct the Clerk to write a letter to Standard Stations Inc . to instruct the m to refrain from filling cars with gas that are parked on the public side- walks. Motion passed to have the Police call Mr. Coents Attention to his parking his truck across the sidewalk at his place of Business. Councilman Thornton brought to the attention of the council that there was a State Firemen' s Convention being conducted at Everett , July, 18.19.20.21;andw would like to have the Fire Chief and one firemen attend same with expenses paid., Motion passed. A resident of Walnut Street was present at the meeting and requested a 15 mile zone for the protection of children. Motion passed to refers to the Polide Committee.
