Regular meeting of the City Council present Mayor Mooney Councilmen Curran, Parsons, Pozzi, Scott , Strain,Thornton; Minutes of the last regular meeting read and approved; Report of Officers presented and placed on file, Buget, Treasurer' s and Clerk' s repoots; Mr. Ramsay Engineer from the Hill & Ingman Co our consult- ing engineers on the Rock Creek Project spoke to the Council and laid out on the table a blue print of Vhe survey that should be conducted, and answered several questions on the- subject, and than interduced Mr. Beach of the U. S.Geological Survey. Mr. Beach stated to the council that such a survey of this nature would run into the amount of $$2600.00 and that the U-. S. Department of Interior branch of Geological Survey of the Water Resources Division of Surface Water, would not pay over 50o and in this case Mr. Beach stated that the city should pay $ 1500.00 and that leaving $ 1100.00 for the Geological Survey to pay. This would pay for the technical work and the published records, that would be of value to the Government as well to the City. Mr. Beach said that/ he would mail the Mayor the cost sheet on the complete job. Councilman Thornton reported that his committee was going ;ORRECTED•REFER TO to have a meetin on June 2nd.• in re g and to the control of dogs. NINUTESOF 6-4-56 Councilman Scott reported that Clements attended the school at the U of W. on TreatmentPlant work. Also reported that it would take two more weeks to make a report on the request for an LID sewer on the North West Part of the City. Councilman Parsons submitted the proposal of price on the lot that Mr. Armstrong had for sale that adjouns the water shed for the amount of $3 ,000.00 net. Motion made to reject the offer for sale by Mr. Armstrong for $34,000.00. Motion passed to call for bids on a hydrogeologi.cal survey on Green River,place and time for call for bids to be selbetiadd by our consuling Engineers. • • Motion passed to have the Clerk write a letter to Fred 'i Meadowcroft in refgA<of a conveyance of 3rd. Ave. extended to the County Road at the T. bridge., Letter read from Mr. Parker of Northwest Metals in regard to the acceptance of Fourth Ave. North. Motion passed to have the Street Committee and Engineer work with him on it. Letter read from the Kent Community Safety Council in re- gard to the muddy conditions of the street where the school Buss loads & unloads school children -on South State Ave. Motion passed to have the clerk write a letter to the Safety Council in regard to the Councils action. Two Resolutions read from the School Board on the matter of no sidewalks on the North End of State Ave. and parking on State Ave. makes a traffic hazard for the school busses, be- cause it is a narrow street.The action of the council on the resolutions was to turn over to the Police Committee. • Resolution presented and read for passage; the sidewalk upon the West side of First Ave. as presently constructed, encroaches upon the National Bank of Washington'-s Property, and this resolution requests the signing of a Disclaimer. Motion made to adopt resolution, and an amendment to the motion on condition that the National Bank purchase the lot 2 Block 24 of Yes. First Addn. Motion on the amendment passed also the motion on the Resolution passed, by roll call vote. Emergency Ordinance No. 922 by motion passed. Emergency Ordinance No. 923 by motion passed. Motion- passed to hold hearing on Kent Burst Plat June 4th. 1956 at $' O' clock P.M. Petition presented for annexation and City Engineer stated by letter that there was over 75% by valuation on the petition. Motion passed to- instruct the City Attorney to draw necessary legals for annexation. Motion passed to have the clerk call for bids on the North Park Pumping Station Equipment for enlargment of same. continued; ; ; Motion passed to purchase a coin sorter to sort coins from the Parking Meters, Curran voting ney.
