Regular meeting of the City Council present Alex Thornton
Mayor protem Councilmen, Blessing, Curran, Lamb, Schultz,
Shaffer, Thornton;
Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting;
Police report -presented and filed;
Councilman Curran reported on the progress of the water
main job on Knob Hill.
Councilman Lamb reported that the Mercury-`1apor lights w
would be installed at such time as the relays would be shipped,
Mr. Sawyer spoke in behalf of the School Board in regard
to the construction of a service station at North Central
and Pioneer St,.Requestirig of the council to hold off for
two weeks the "issuance of a building permit , that the school
District was going to purchase the property or condem, they
were of the opinion that the construction of a service station
at that location would cause a hazard for school children,
and a hang out for smoking by the school pupils. Also a re
solution was presented by the Superintendent and the Business
Manager of the school to delay the permit until the school
district could purchase or condemn the property.
Signal 'Oil Co representives were there and. requested a
wider driveway that the city ordinance granted, and also
agreed "that they would not request the building permit be
issued until two weeks as the school requested. Motion
passed to lay over for two weeks for study by the street
committee, the wd!dith of the drive-ways.
Letter read from the Statewide City,'Retirement System on
various amenements,by motion was refered to the finance
committee to reQntt at the next regular meeting.
Letter read from Auburn Saving and Loan and referred to
the finance committee.
Motion passed to leave in the hands of the water committee
on the subject of extending the water main on the Rieten Rd.
the South City Limit Line.
Two bids were received, on the construction of the tennis
courts for the Park, McIntyre Construction Co $6, 284.75 and
G.F.Miller $ 6, 687.38. Motion passed to refer to the Park
Board and the Finance Committee, and report at the next re-
gular meeting.
Motion passed to lay the Trailer Ordinance over for two
weeks for further study.
Motion passed to approve deed from N.P.Ry Co, for the
Rock Creek Land as revised by the water Committee , and power
to act on same.
