Kent, Washington October 18, 1954.
Regular meeting of the Cmty Council present I,'Iayor Ilooney,
Councilmen Blessing, Curran, Lamb, Randall, Schultz, Shaffer,
Thornton;
Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting;
Report of officers presented and filed, Budget. Treasurer,
and Clerk' s repent,
Councilman Curran made a report on the Rock Creek water
project , and thought that the N.F.Ry. Cc would linve a deed
prepared scon for the purchase of tlie land, and the Clark
,Report on Rock Creek was being prepared .
Motion passed to reject .gal_?- bids on Tennis courts. P��Iotion
passed to call for new bids on blir� tennis courts, with new
plans drawn. 19otion passed to have an alternate .bids on the
weight of: the' wire .in the fencing.
Tlotion passed to reject fire Stauion bids, and proceed vaith
time and material , the bids ayq)erred to be high.
Motion passed to instruct the Engineer to start the water
main project on Knob Hill as soon as possible.
bvlotion passed to the Clerk to turn over the-
Workman check that he forfited on the bid. on the culverts
to the City Treasurer.
Hearing held on the 1955 Bud et , no one appearing, the hearing
was closed dnd Ordinance No. 859 read and by motion passed the
unanimous vote of the council. adopting the Budget for 1955.
Ordinance Nol 890 read and passed the unanimous vote of the
Council fixing the tax levy for the year of 1955.
The purposed trailer ordinance was laid over for two more
weeks, for further study by the committee , also IJIr. Sheehan
of the Sheehan Trailer court was present and requested that
the council give this ordinance more study before passing in
� . ' the form it is now presented.
Clark presented a plat that he had been, working since 1949
Motion passed to accept the Plat that was already okpd by the
Kent Planning Commission, all voted in favor, - Curran voted nay.
The City;':Attorney was instructed to draw ordinance and notices
and the Clerk to post according to law.
Motion passe to instruct the City Engineer to make a survey
of all Utilities poles along the Sewer District , and poles that
are not in the proper place in the streets should be placed
{ right, during construction, and for the City Engineer to
notify the P.S.P.&.L.CO of his findings.
Motion passed to instruct the Clerk to write a letter to
Mayor Bob Stobbs and inform him that the Mayor or the Council
will not attend the dinner of the Valley Cities meeting, on
account of the Kent Meridian Football Team is playing Hi-Line
that night.
Motion for clerk to write a letter to Washington Toll Bridge
Authorityand find out , what possible connection has DesMoines
and Kent with and entrance on the new Expressway.
