Kent Washington January 18, 1954
Regular meeting of the City Council present Mayor Mooney,
Councilmen Blessing, Lamb, Randall, Schultz, Shaffer, Thornton;
Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting;
Report of officers read and filed, Police a-lnual report ,
Budget , Clerk' s and Treasurers;
Bids were opened and read for the Sewage Treatment Plant
construction. eighteen bids were received, the amounts and
Firm names are a part of the minutes as on file in the clerk' s
office. Motion passed to instruct the Engineers of Carey 8,
Kramer to check into the five low bids , for performance and
equipment to do the job , and report back to the council for
action.
Councilman Blessing reported that bids shovldbe called for
the replacment of the sash and frames on the second and first
floor of the city hall , that they are in bad shape and shu2idd

replaced motion passed to instruct the clerk to call for

bids for the replacement of sash in the city iIall on the south
side.
Mlotion passed for the Sanitation committee and the city
attorney to draw a contract ,,jith 11ir. L.I . Stevens in regulation
to the operation of the dump, Pair. Stevens has made an offer
to the council_ to take care of the dump for the salvage thht
is brought in.
Application made to the council for a loading and unloading
zone at 312 West Meeker, this application was placed in the
hands of the police committee for action.
Resolution No. 344 adopted by the unanimous vote of the
council present , to hold a hearing on the creation of an LID i
for sewers, March 1st. 1954.
Officials from Clinton Foods was present at the meeting, in
regard to having th r building permit issued, and also stated
that sprinklers to be installed at this time was nearly out of
the question on account of cost and time limit. Mr. Light of
the Company gave the I'iayor a letter from the Milwaukee stating
that when the building permit was issued they would proceed
with the installRtion of the traffic signals at the R.R.cross-
ing and Shinn Street.11otion passed to table the question on
sprinklers until further study could be made, and report at
the next meeting.
Mr. Penketh of H .P .Pratt & Co made a report to the council
on the various phases of his financial report on the Seweage
Treatment Plant bond issue that will be necessary for the
construction of the plant.
