HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Meeting - Council - Regular Minutes - 12/01/1952 Kent 1,1ashington December 1, 1952 Regular meeting of the City Council present , I.iayor Mooney Councilmen, .Blessing, Curran, Pozzi, Randall , Schultz, Shaffer, Thornton; ;Iinutes 'read and approved of the last regular meeting; Report of the Police Department read and filed; Clerk was instructed by motion to write a letter to the Power Company requesting them to move a pole on Kenwood Ave. that is in the way of traffic. Claim for damages for and from the City of 'rent , was read from the State of T,lashington, through the Pollution Control Commission, Department of Fisheries, and the Department of Game , for the amount of pa1, 500.00 for the damage to fish in the Green River. 1.1otion was passed to study the claim for two weeks, and place on .file. Letter read from the Pollution Control Commission, stating that the City of Kent shall. file within 15 days, a report . showing what they have done on steps taken to control pollution by our sewers in the Green River. Motion passed to have the Mayor and Clerk answer within the .fifteen days. Motion passed to submitt the answer to the City Attorney, and -also to others that are interested in the matter. City attorney Mr. Thatcher reconmiended to the council that they should employ council in regard to the State Damage s�zte��t11 �r► that has been filed. Motion passed to employe council of a Seattle firm i�Ir. Watts and Elvidge, Veblen, And Tew.ell. Resolution passed by motion to continue Mr. I-Iolmans employment after compulsery retirement age , as of Jan. lst. 1953. Resoultion passed by motion to continue II.I1 .Nartin-3 employment for the extended two year period to the age of 67. Worth Stoneburner offered two deeds to 30ft. strips of land for street purposes, in an unplatted area.Motion made to accept deeds but lost for a second. 11otion passed to table deed matter until next regular meeting. Petition presented by Mr. Stoneburner for annexation to the city certain lands but failed to be accepted by the council by reason of not drawn according to law, and the council ask the petitioner to repeat his actions, that the council was in the notion to accept if presented by law provided. Letter read from Carey Krammer our engineering firm for our Treatment Plant , stating that revisions of the plant in the various ways we had requested at a previous meeting in September was submitted for the sum of y'P300.00 or less. Motion passed to accept the offer, and for the clerk: to instruct as such, also to get an estimate what the cost of chemical treatmmeht , and operation would be per year, under the different revised conditions. Mr. Lowery of Pratt & Co gave a report on what has been done on financing of the treatment plant up to date.
