State Ave . in- regard to ideas for sewage treatment for large plants, I-iotion passed to instruct the clerk to ans,vicr ,ith thanks for her interest in the problem. The Iiayor suggested that the Health Cc finance Committee meet with a i-ir. Tyler at the University of Washington in re- gard to ideas on a treatment plant , for our city, and have the clerk vrite a letter to Carey L Associates, our tOmgineer- ing firm of the findings of the committee. Petition was received read and filed for the annexation of property to the city , in and along the Reiten Road, Tlotion passed to have the engineer check petition and sketch. The Street committee was authorized to check into the feasibility of accepting the extension of Alexander Ave. Bids were opened and read for the construction of a grand- stand on city property, only one bid received, from Kenneth R. Novak for the sum of .D-2, 443.00. The Park Board chairman was present and recommended that the council reject the bid owing to the fact that it was to far above their estimate of p17,000.00. ilotion passed to reject the bid of I�ir. Novak. Engineer reported on the sidewalk at the National Bank of Washington and also the building, and the Merrifield Bldg. on First and Gowe St. The owners of the buildings stated that they are in constant watch as to the settling, and have had in the past construction men to check them and find that they are not in bad condition.I•Iotion passed to instruct the clerk to write Mr. Jager of the national Bank of Washington; and inform him that the only way our ordinance permitts ' the re- pair of sidewalks is by concrete. Motion passed to have a resolution drawn to keep Mr. H. I Martin on the payrmll until 67 years of age, and inform the Retirement System of same. Motion passed to have resolution drawn for the extension of IIr. -Holmanp employment beyond retirement age. the matter of John Browns extension was left undecided, for further study. Motion passed to approve all recommendations of the Retirement system officers, as presented.
