Kent Washington June 2, 1952
Regular mec.ting of the ci',�y council present, Mayor protem Thornton
councilmen, Blessing, Curran, Pozzi, Randall, Schultz;
Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting;
Report of the police department read and filed;
City Engineer explained to the council that there was a need for
additional compressors for the sewer lift station at l-dorth Park, to
take care of the extra sewer services that have been ddddd on in
the last year.
Motion passed to award John Hauge the garbage contractor the $5
per Saturady and Sundays, the days that the dump are open to the
public, for supervision of same, and that he gets the dump in
proper condition:
Motion passed to recind all previous action the council gave the
people on R.R.Ave. So. in regard to having a pl�rground on -a portion
of East Saar Street.
Letter read from Tip. Eckland in regard to having some of the
Cit s ,Insurance business. Motion passed to refers' him to Mr. Bell
th—af who now handles our insurance.
Letter read from the King County rat control division, stating
that theyhad exterminated the rats at our dump,. Motion passed to
instruct the clerk to write a letter in appreciation of there fine
work.
Letter read from the Planning Commission in regard to a new
industry coming into Kent, and the contemplated changes in some
parts of the Zoning ordinance.Motion passed to accept the new
Industry, with the approval of the fire chief in regard to it
not being a harzardtous industry.
Motion passed for the approval of the counil to extend the Fire-
mens pension prior service rights to the year of 1954, if the
legislature sees fit to amend the law.
State Highway resolution presented and read -for the council to
accept the grade within the city on the proposed new lane on
Highway 5. Motion passed to adopt the resolution of the Highway
Deaprtment.
