Regular meeting of the City Council present IIayor Mooney,
Councilmen Blessing, Curran, Pozzi, Randall , Schultz, Shaffer,
Thornton;
ilinutes read of the last previous meeting and approved; k
Report of officers read and filed police report ;
James Curran was sworn into office by the clerk, to fill
the vacancy of 4m. Adams resigned.
Mayor appointed and changed various committee chairmans,
Alex Thornton chairman of police fire , Schultz on police
fire ; James Curran chairman Ta.ter* Thornton member of Light
commitee ; Curran in place of Schultz on Building & Plumbing;
Curran on member of finance ; Randall Chairman of streets and
alleys and drains; .
Motion passed to sell the old boiler from the Blue anner
Foods for scrap iron to I,!.Bloch Co for the sum of �i�69.�9.
Motion passed to instruct the city attorney, Engineer and
street committee to work out a planks of a turnaround at the
end of Hazel Ave.
Hearing was opened on LID 229 assesment roll , one objection
was received from 11Ir. Little living on James Street , stating
that his assessment was too high, two others spoke from
the floor requesting information. I,Iay"or ash if other people
had anything to bring up to the council at this hearing, and
if not , it shall be closed, and the ordinance adopting the roll
shall be read, . ordinance on and confirmirifT, the roll was read
and passed by motion by the unanimous vote of the council.
I-Motion was passed to accept the bid of Strains Auto Co
for the police car, all voted in favor except Randall ,' he
declined to cast a vote , owing to te fact that he was an
employee of that Company.
Mayor appointed the police committee to work out a plan
with the Chamber of Commerce , in regard to courtisey parking
signs for the main part of town.
Motion passed to invite the traffic engineer of the
Milwaukee R.R. Co to visit Ilent and see if they can work out
a better signal system at the crossing on Vilest Meeker, and
also to instruct the train crew not to block crossings longer
than the law allows) which is five minutes at a time.
Hotion passed to write a letter to the II.P.Ry. Co in regard
to holding crossings tovlong, and to refrain from having their
toilets in operation while going-; through the City Limits.
