HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Meeting - Council - Regular Minutes - 08/06/19512"9-X Kent Washington August 6, 1951 Regular meeting of the City Council present Mayor Mooney, Councilman Adams, Blessing, Pozzi, Schultz, Shaffer, Thornton; Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting; Report of officers read and filed, police report; man Council Blessing made a report on the needed repair at the Blue Banner Food Plant,.and recommended that the committee as a whole look over the building and report at the next meeting, so as to set money in the next budget. Mons Rod reported that the new well was in operation, and it was a great help in the water condition during this dry weather. Mr. Ray Abram on Alvord Ave. made a request to the council for permission to extend on to the sewer system, By motion passed the request was granted with the full approval of the City Engineer, and such regulation as he may see fit. Puget Sound Power & Light Co contract presented to the Council, for supplying power for the well pump, and by motion referred to the water committee to get an OK from the City Attorney for legalty. Motion passed to remove the stop signs at Thompson, Lincoln Madison, and fourth Ave. and Shinn St. and install signs at First Ave. and 6th. Ave. and Shinn. Motion passed to recind action on the placement of signs at First Ave. and Shun and sixth and Shinn, and a motion passed to have the City Attorney give the proper procedure to the council in regard to the placement of stop signs,.if by motion or ordinance. Street committee was instructed to make a study of Shinn Street between 4th Ave, and Sixth, Ave, in regard to a load I limit restriction if needed. Request of the Mayor to the press for an item be placed in the paper in regard to people getting a permit at the clerks Office before hooking to a City Sewers so that city records may be kept straight. Motibn passed for the street committee spend up to $21-0.00 for striping streets. Letters read from Senators Cain (, Magnuson, and placed on file.
