HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Meeting - Council - Regular Minutes - 06/18/1951 @Kj 270 Kent Washington June 18, 1951 Regular meeting of the City Council present Iiayor Tlooney Councilmen Adams, Blessing, Pozzi Randall, Schultz, Shaffer; Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting; Report of officers read and filed, Budget , Treasurers, and Clerks Report ; The aportionment of election costs submitted by the County for the city primary and general election, for the amount of 1,117.88 was read and the council felt that there might be a mistake owing to the fact it was such a large amount , that a motion was passed to instruct the clerk to write a letter to the County Auditor in regard to the large .amount charged. Letter read from Mr. N.H.Sgmier of 717 Second Ave. North in regard to the letter written to the Mayor and signed Mothers, Mr. Squier complemented the i4ayor and the Council on the good, and faithful work they are doing for the citizens of the City, and by Motion passed the clerk was instructed to write Mr. Squier a letter of appreciation for his kind remarks to the Mayor & Council. The School District had a letter request for the City to purchase the new sewer line from the new school, this was placed in the hands of the Health &, Sanitation Committee for investigation. Letter read from Mr. MacBoyker in regard to the Water Cont- tractor, " Valley Construction Co it which is in the form of a claim against the City & the Construction Co for damage to 54 ft, of sidewalk, which he wants repilced and not patched. Letter read from the Chamber of Commerce of Dent requesting an ordinance drawn to license magazine salesman. Planning Commission appeared before the Council, and various phase of their work was discussed, and the 1'layor congratulated them on their efforts they have put in. Engineer reported on the Kenwood Survey and said lie would have to check his work, before grading and wideing should start, and a -motion, was passed to have the people oil the south part of Kenw000d to delay the dust until the -Ira "ing could be completed. Mr. - Thoday apperaed before the Council with a request for the erection of " children at play signs" to slow the traffic on East Smith Street. By motion passed the clerk was instructed to write a lettter to the Milwaukee R.R.Co requesting them to cut the brush along their right0way at West Willis Street. Motion passed to have the clerk write a letter requesting the Milwaukee to install ' Wig-Wag Signals at Willis & Shinn Streets at their crossings. Councilman Shaffer reported to the Council the valuable time he and Mr. Pozzi had at the Washington Citifies Convention in Seattle, and told the Council that they received very valuable information from that meeting.
