HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Meeting - Council - Regular Minutes - 03/19/1951 261 Kent Washington March 19, 1951 Regular meeting of the City Council present Mayor Mooney Councilman Armstrong, Bell, Randall, Seeman, Shaffer, Thornton; Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting; Report of officers read and filed, Budget, Treasurers, Clerks and Library report ; Councilman Seeman reported that the new dog pound was about completted, and ready for dogs to be kept there. Councolman Thornton reported that the new street signs were being installed. Motion passed to instruct the clerk to write a letter to Mr. Arthur Green the Ditch commissoner of No. 1, to have the ditch that drains Central Ave. lowered to give better drainage at various points south of the creek on Central Ave. Letter read from Mrs. Sanford residing on Knob Hill requesting of the Council to request Mr. Sipe of Sipes Transfer located at R.R.Ave. G Titus Street to clean up his place so it is not an eye sore to the community. Motion passed to instruct the clerk to write a letter to Mr. Sipe in regard to the request. Motion passed to have the Mayor extend to the Library Board ec Librarian the splended job they are doing with the Kent Free Public Librabyy with compliments of the Council. Motion passed for the clerk to write an other letter to the State Highway Engineers in regard to the dangerous curve in the East Hiway at the North City Limit Line. Motion was for the clerk to procurrer proper data in regard to government regulations on the purchase of all metals, such as used in our water system. Motion was passed to purchase a nitrr water pump for the Water Dept. to replace the one they now have that is beyond repair. Motion passed to instruct the clerk to call for bids for the sale of a used furnance and oil burner that is now stored in the water shed. Motion was passed for the clerk to purchase new lights for the large room in the city hall. Motion was passed for the mayor and clerk to report at the next meeting in regard for the furniture for the Mayorts office that has been constructed on the second floor of the City Mall.
