Kent Washington Sept. 18, 1950
Regular meeting of the City Council present Mayor .Mooney,
Councilmen Armstrong, Bell, Pozzi, Randall, Seeman, Shaffer,
Thornton.
Minutes read and approved of the last special meeting;
Report of Officers read and filed, Treasurers;
Bids were opened and read for the construction of a storm
drain on South Central, and a reservoir drain on Kenwood Ave.
Bids read from, Argentieri & Colarossi $ 5,629-70, Superior
Construction Co $5020.00, Roberts Company Inc .$6,202.00.
All bids were rejected by motion and passed, the council
felt that the cost was to great, . I-lotion passed to proceed
with the work by day labor and purchase of material.
Engineer recommended that the estimate on the North Central
storm drain be laid over until the Safeway Building has been
completed.
Motion was passed to have the street committee contact the
Highway Dept.and learn their future plans on that part of the
highway, that will be affect&de by the storm chain.
Motion passed to instruct the clerk to call for bids, for
the reroofing or repair of the Blue Banner Building, and the
water department warehouse, bids to be opened on October 2nd.
Motion passed to have two street lights installed on
Kenwood Ave. and one on North Central Ave. at the City Limit
line.
Motion passed to purchase $175.00 worth of boiler tubes,
for use as street sign posts.
Motion passed to purchase 181,1' sewer pipe for drainage purpose
where needed.
Post 15 of the American Legion had a representive at the
meeting requesting the council to recend their action on
indorsing Federalized Government at a previous meeting,
motion passed to take under consideration.
o Bids were received on Sewage Treatment plant, Two bids were
W opened at $' o' clock Daylight time and read, after the reading
l we realized- that the Engineers had called for the time of

oLL reading of the bids was to be $' o' clock standard time, the
last two bids were received before $' oclock standard time,
na:� owing to the fact the the bids were opened one hour before
°5 called for, the last two bids were returned to the biders
unopened, and a motion was passed to reject all bids.
Motion passed to place the matter of calling for more bids
on the treatment plant in the hands of the sewage committee
for further action.
Preliminary hearing was held on the 1951 budget, and motion
passed to hold hearing on the final adoption of the budget �t
the next regular meeting of the council October 2, at $' oclock
P.M. and instruct the clerk to publish notice of hearing, and
have budget printed.
Motion passed to have the Tlayor and light committee attend
hearing on the power bulinessvtth the county commissioners.
Motionpassed to instruct the clerk to call for bids, when
specifications are ready for two trucks for the water depatrt-
me nt.
