HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Meeting - Council - Minutes - 08/21/1950 Kent Washington August 21,1950 Regular meeting of the City Council present Mayor Mooney, Councilmen Armstrong, Bell, Pozzi, Seeman, Shaffer, Thornton. Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting; Report of officers read and filed, Clekts , Budget, and Tress. Council Shaffer reported on the revision of costs on building permits, and moving permits, and stated that there should he more study made on the question, before turned over to the Attorney for ordinance making. Council Thornton reported that the engineer gave an estimate on that portion of the storm sewer on So. Central that should be replaced for the amount of $1513.00 . Motion passed to call for bids on this prodject. Motion passed to have the water committee get estimates on the retaring of the water shed roof. and have power to act. � Mr. Cary and Mr. Brett appeared at the meeting with a nor contract to be acted upon for the completion of the Sewage Treatment Plant, and to cancel out the old contract with Forbes and Brett. , the new contract was presented to the City Attorney or legal advise. H.P.Pratt and 6o were present at the meeting and made a report on the financing of the Sewage Treatment Plant, and also present- ed the council with the feasibilty report o$ the power buisness. Motion passed to order 500 ft. of 811 Sewer Pipe rejects for various drains that need to be replaced. Motion passed for the fire department to order various pieces of fire-fighting equipment, that is very much needed. Motion passed to instruct the Fire Chief to attend the Pacific Coast, and the International Fire Chiefs Convention at San Francisco, with expenses paid, Sept. llth. to 15th. of Sept. Motion passed for the building committee to look into the cost of new chairs for the council room. Motion passed to instruct the clerk to write a letter'to the P.S.P.&.L.CO for installation of four new street lights. Motion passed to have the city grader , level off 'the parking lot just north of the City Park on First Ave. North.
