HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Meeting - Council - Minutes - 07/17/1950 Kent Washington July 17, 1950 Regular meeting of the City Council present, Mayor Mooney Councilmen, Armstrong, Bell, Pozzi, Randall, Seeman, Shaffer, Thornton. Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting; -Report of .officers read and filed, Clerk' s Treasurers, and Budget ; ,Bids were opened and read for the purchase of water pipe, fittings and fire hydrants, several bids were received and read, and the council recessed for 30 minutes to study the bids, reconvened and a -motion was passed to reject all bids, owing to the fact that the specifications did not have the materials devided so the bids could be broken up in seperate units, where the best price pre- vailed. Motion passed to call for bids for the next regular meet- ing, on the same amount of pipe, fittings and hydrants, but de- vided in seperate units. Motion passed to have the power co install two street lights on Alvord Ave. North of James Street where they will be of the great- est benifit. Motion passed to have the street department repair the streets where the contracyor tore them up for the installation of the water pipes, and charge this repair to the water department, which was agreed in the contract, with Meade Sand & Gravel. Motion passed to purchase armco pipe for culvert as per bid, and recommendation by the ingineer. Ordinance # 828 passed the unanimous vote of the council for im- provement of certain streets and alleys by sewers, and setting the boundaries of the District No. 229, and fixing payments for a ten year period with interest at the rate of 5%. Ordinance # 829 passed the unanimous vote of the council fixing mode of payment for novelty and amusement machines, and amending .Section 2 of ordinance # 796. '`/Motion passed to have the finance committee meet with Carey and Associates, and have a new contract drawn for the completion of the Sewage Treatment Plant, and to be presented for passage at the next regular meeting. Motion passed to spend up to $250.00 on the striping of the streb is as recommended by the street committee.
