Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting; Report of Officers read and filed, Police Report ; Motion passed to have the cust6dian of the bldg. to advise the painters of the colors to be used in the painting of the rooms on then second floor. Letter read from the Kent Chamber of Commerce in regard to using part of the City Park for parking space. Motion passed to instruct the chamber to consult the R.R.Co, and the Park board if it would be 'feasible to use that portion of the park grounds for parking purposes. Ordinance read on its first reading for an emerg&ncy making an appropriation of $2000.00 for the Street Fund for extra labor. Resolution read and adopted No. 313 for the declaring an emergency for the Street Fund and holding a hearing for same. Petition read from property owners on South 5th. Ave. West Titus and West Saar Street, requesting the Council to improve their drainage condition. Motion passed to take action on the request of the petition. VHearing on LID 229 was reopened and no one objected, motion passed to instruct the engineer to proceed with the district so bids 2,0 could be called for the laying of a sewer in the described area. o Motion passed to instruct the city attorney to draw an ordinance no creating a rural sewer district , to include the proposed sewer �T from the New High School on East Hill. M Motion passed to instruct the clerk to call for bids for ° armored;_culvert pipe for the culvert at East Titus Street , that needs replacing very badley. i Motion passed to pay patrolmen extra time until vacancy is fill- ed on their Department, at such time civil service commission makes an appointment. Motion passed to expend no money for oiling streets this year. Motion passed to oil Pioneer St. from R.R.Ave. to Central Ave. account of the water main job destroyed the oil job the people paid for last summer. Motion passed to permit Mr. Feroe to connect to the sewer at Kennebeck & Ward, or alley North of Ward St. under the plans of the City Engineer and inspection of same. Motion passed for the clerk to write a lettbr to the Washington Cities in regard to information on the power buisness. Letter read from the Federal Census Board stating that the population of the City of Kent was 3260 taken for the census of 1950. Letter read from the Joint Fact"Finding Committee on Highways, Streets and Bridges of the State Legislature and will conduct a series of public hearings in Western Washington from June 21, through June 28.
