HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Meeting - Council - Minutes - 05/15/1950 226 Kent Washington May 15, 1950 Regular meeting of the City Council present, Mayor Mooney Councilmen Armstrong, Bell, Pozzi, Randall, Seeman, Shaffer, Thornton Minutes of last regular meeting read and filed and approved; Report of Officers read and Ailed, Budget Treasurers Clerks and Fire Report. Mr., Rod water supt. gave a very interesting talk on the proceed- ings of the Water Works Convention at Tacoma, that he and Kenneth Evenson attended. Councilman Randall submitted the specifications from Mr. Robinson on the proposed well, and was turned over to the Engineer for examination. Councilman Pozzi gave the council some high lights on the proposed pension plan., and made a report on the results of several meetings with various bonding houses on the financing of the treatment plant. Motion was passed to have the City Attorney write a letter to the Attorney General for an opinion on the cancellation of a contract made by previous council. Bids were opened and read or the letting a bid for the painting of the upstairs of the City all, Bids wereread as follows, Hopper & Bickford $p623.15, Obert & Gustin $854.90,Leonard Munn; & John C. Matchett 1246.10 Ralph E. Golfe ,;i,744.64, Lorenson & Snyder $ 824.00 Paul Huff & Clyde Golder $875.50, frank Siems $1186.56. Motion passed to award the contract to the lowest bidder for $623.15 Hopper & Bickford. Letter read from the Public Service Commission in regard to the hearing on the Telephone proposed telephone rate raise. Letter read from the Secretary of the coordinating council on recreation development for new park site, asking for a representive from the City Council. Motion passed to ackn.owlege same. Motion passed requesting City Attorney to issue proceedure to different organizations in regard to improvements on City property for different orginazations. Motion passed to instruct the clerk to issue a notice in the paper in regard to the law on connecting to sewers, when in such a district. Motion was passed to grant Mr. M.L.Armstrong perpmmission to hook up to sewer at 615 North Hazel Ave. Motion passed to instruct clerk to write a letter to the Sewer Rod Co in regard to a cash credit on equipment that does not work as represented when purchased. Motion was passed to remove from the table , to resume with a hearng on LID 229 at the Next regular meeting of the council, June, 5th. Motion passed to have the Building Committee and the Building inspector revise the rate 6f building permits and moving permits, and report at the next meeting. Motion passed to have the curbs at various intersection repaired up to $350.00. Motion passed to have the Attorney draw up Emergency ordinance for the apprupriation of $2000.00 for extra labor for street work.
