HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Meeting - Council - Minutes - 04/17/1950 Kent Washington April 17, 1950 Regular meeting of the City Council present , Mayor Mooney, Councilmen Armstrong, Bell, Randall, Seeman, Shaffer, Thornton. Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting; Report of officers read and filed, Treasurers, Budget and Clerks; Health and Sanitation committee with the Engineer to act on the request of the school to join in on 'the Cities sewer system. Motion passed to table the employee ' s Pension plan until the two plans can be studied by the committee. Motion to call for bids for the decorating the upstairs of the. City Hall. Petition received and read from a small group of people living on North-. Second North of Cole Street , for permission to connect to the present sewer system and for and engineers estimate for the labor and material. T�Iotion passed to have the amount of money reguired for the estimate of the engineer be deposited with the clerk. Petition received and read against proposed sewer dist. # 229 to not construct the sewer at this time on account of the high cost, about 53% not favoring the go ahead of this prodject motion passed to table the project. Mr. Robinson gave a talk on his findings in the well areas around Kent , and he discouraged the council on drilling a well on what is known as the old Snyder water site, and advised the council that the well should be tried on the hill North East of Kent . Motion was passed to accept the bid of Kent Motors for a police aar. , at a cost of $1573 . 50 plus sales tax, and a credit for the 1946 V-8 of $650.00 Motion was passed to instruct the clerk to draw warrents to pay taxes that are due , and contract on the Park property that the- city attorney is geting into shape , for the purchase of same. Buisness and Professional Women was present at the meeting and presented the Mayor a check for $225.00 to be used by the City for the Park Fund to help develop the recreation center. Motion was passed to install equipment as needed on' the new police aar up to the amount of $185.00. Motion was passed by the council to adopt daylight saving time, the same time as Seattle . Motion was passed to have parts of the sidewalk ordinance published in the paper to warn people of their responsibility for the upkeep of city sidwalks.
