HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Meeting - Council - Minutes - 04/03/1950 Kent Washington April 3 , 1950 Regular meeting of the City Council present , Mayor Mooney j Councilmen, Bell, Pozzi , Randall, Seeman, Thornton; Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting; Report of Officers read and filed; Police ; Motion passed the unanimous vote of the council present to repeal Resolution # 231 regulating number of Taverns and places to sell beer and wine by the package. Letter read from the people that live in the Miller Court at 703 First Ave . North, drawing the attention of the Council to the deplorable condition of the grounds and the garbage can situation, which has been drawn to the attention of Mr. Miller the owner, but has failed to comply with the requests of the ten nants to remidy, the condition. Motion passed to have the Health Officer look into the complaint . A copy letter from Stokily Foods to the State Polution Commission in regard to theit, sewer line along the track to Smith Street was referred to the Health and Sanitation committee for action if needed. Letter read from the Chamber of Commerce in regard to ordinances on Health and fire conditions in the city, requesting ordinances to be passed to inforce such conditions if there were none to take care of fire hazards and health menaces. Motion was passed to have the health and fire committee investigate the- request , and for Councilman Bell meet with the Chamber at their next regular meet- ing. Motion for the building committee to proceed with the painting of the upstairs of the City Hall if bid is less than $$500.00. Petition read from the city employees requesting of the council to set up the pension plan. Finance committee was directed to have the city attorney get all information on same. Bids were received and read for the purchase of a police car, from Freese Motors, Kent Motors, Polly Pontiac , and Valley Garage. motion passed to have bids placed in the hands of the police committee for study, and report at next meeting. Don Bell was appointed as a committee to take up the parking problem with the Chamber of Commerce , to see if the buisness men and the employees would help by not parking their cars on the street all day in the buisness district . Motion passed to instruct the clerk to write a letter to the Northern Pacific R.R. Co inregard to the cleaning up of the old Epperson Bldg. CLAIMS PRESENTED AND ALLOWED AS FOLLOWS; Claim of damage read in regard to a Mkss Mary Hemstreet of 903 Summit• Ave. Seattle , 4 Washington, her attornies state that she fell on the sidewalk at 4th. Ave. and Gowe St. and spran- ed her ankle, claim in the amount of $$1,760.00. Claim turned over to Donald Bell Sr. our insurance agent . Police Salaries For March $1330.00 Gen.
