Kent Washington March 6, 1950
Regular meeting of the City Council present 1,11ayor 1400ney,
Councilmen Armstrong, Pozzi, Randall, Seeman, Shaffer, Thornton.
Minutes read and approved of the last rer,ular meeting;
Report of the police dept . read and filed;
Letter read from Mr. John V1. Robinson, ground water geologist
stating that he would survey the Snyder water system site
and check all wells in the vivinety as to flow, which could
be done in a week for the fee of � 50.00 per diem.
Motion passed to retain Mr. Roberson for the job, not to
exceed $350.00.
Report by councilman Shaffer on the meeting in .Seattle
on flood Control, and the naming of the dam if constructed,
was voted on to remain as Eagle Gorge Dam.
Ordinance # 825 was read and passed the vote of the council
for providing for the relief and compensation of volunteer
firemen.
Resolution read for the loan of monies from the Current Expense
to the Park Fund for the purpose of purchase of. property for
a Recreation Center. Motion passed to adopt the resolution.
Emergency ordinance read on its first reading making an
appropriation for the park fund to the amount of $6500.00
for purchase of property for recreation Center.
Resolution adopted by the council to hold hearing on
emergency ordinance for the park fund.
Bids wereopened and read for the purchase of one police car
for the police dept . , one bid received from Freese Motors
by motion was laid over till the next regular council meet-
ing' for consideration of the committee.
Hearing was held on the proposed LID for improvment by
sewers, hearing was recessed until the next regular meeting
of the council March 20th.
Council recessed for 2 hour for more explanaation on proposed
sewers. council reconvened.
Motion was passed tp purchase $350.00 worth of blacktop
patching material for the streets.
Letter read from the school district for granting of sewers
and water for new school site , referred to the Water and
Sanitation committees.
Motion was passed to aceppt the 10 o discount on the credit
memo for handling charges on a return of goods.
Letter read from the Buiiness &�, Professional Women' s Club
thanking the council for the use of the Auditonitim during
their r2hearsal for a local talent show.
Engineer presented valuation on the property for the pro-
posed LID 229 District for sewers, estimated cost of im-
provement and print showing all lots, tracts of land benfitted.
