Kent Washington December 19, 1949
Regular meeting of the City Council present, Mayor Mooney,
councilmen, Armstrong, Pozzi, Randall, Seeman, Shaffer, Thornton,
Vanbevers.
Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting;
Report of Officers read and filed, Budget,Treasurers and Clerk's
Petition read from property owners along Meeker Street request-
ing of the Council to have the street fixed along the curb line,
when cars drive into park the water that stands in the holes
splash across the walk, and gets their windows all dirty.
Motion was passed to place the petition in the hands of the street
committee, to be referred to the State Highway Dept for improvement.
Ordinance No. 818 read, and hearing held for objections, no
objections, the ordinance for an emergency for the street dept.
was by motion passed the council by unanimous vote.
Three Ordinances read and a hearing held, no objection, the
three ordinances passed the unanimous vote of the council for
the vacation of certain streets and alleys in the City of Kent,.
Council recessed to discuss the lets ng of bids,that were received
at the last regular meeting for fittings, valves and hydrants.
Motion was passed to award the bids to , American Plumbing and
Steam Supply of,Tacoma for all fittings $2320.30,. H.D.Fowler Co
of Seattle was awarded the bid on 1000 ft. of 4" Cement Asbestos
water pipe for $ 875.50., Pacific Water Works Supply Co was
awarded the bid on valves & Hydrants,$3707.59.
Hearing was held on Rent Decontrolt to determine whether there
were ample housing for the people, all persons appearing at the
hearing were in favor of removing the control, no one opposed the
removal of same.The council went on record as favoring the de-
control. Resolution # 308 was read and passed the council by roll
call vote all voting yew except Seeman, he refrained from voting
stating that there was not enough evidence at this time.
