Regular meeting of the City Council present, Mayor Mooney Councilmem , Armstrong, Pozzi, Randall, Seeman, Shaffer, Thornton. Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting except, motion on the passage of ordinance for salaries for councilmen all voted in favor of the ordinance except Shaffer, he voting ney. Report of officers read and filed; police report. : Councilman Randall reported on the street light need on second ave south and on West Shinn Street. and reocmmended to the council that a street light be place on south second, and one on Shinn between6th. and Madison St . .Letter was read from the Seattle Chamber of Commerce in regard to the big push near at hand to help get the flood c6ntrol bill through back in Washington D.C.Action on this letter was contem- plted by having a join meeting with the Auburn City Council at a latter date. Engineer recommended that the contract of R.L.Moss & Co be accepted for the laying a sewer from the Main Trunk on Shinn St to the LID sewer system in North Park, Motion passed to accept the engineers recommendation. Engineer recommended to the council that Critcher & Raber contract on water mains be accepted, Motion passed to acept the recommendation of the engineer. Haaring held on the budget for the year of 1950, no objections presented, Reading of the Budget Ordinance , and tax levy ordinance, passed the unanimous vote of the council. Motion passed to have the Park Board hold a meeting with the Council, and Cornucopia Committee to work over extensive plans for a park and playground program, to be held next monday. Petition read from Mrs. W.K.Wrenwrick of West Meeker St. ask- ing the council to vacate an alley running through her property with no use to the public. Motion passed to place petition in the hands of the street committee for action, and report at the next regular meeting. Bids were opened for the letting of a contract for two years duration, for the collection of garbage , two bids were received and read, one from Mr. John Hauge, and one from the present contractor Mr. C.V.Erath, the council ndcessed for 10 minutes to consider the bids, .Motion was passed to accept the bid of C.V.Erath, that his service in the passed two years has been with out complaint , and for the Mayor and Clerk to sign the contract. Motion was passed to instruct the clerk to write a letter to the Valley Hardware of appreciation for the electric clock that they donated for the council room.
