Kent Washington August 15, 1949.
Regular meeting of the City Council present , Mayor Mooney,
Councilmen Armstrong, Pozzi , Randall, Seeman, Shaffer, Thornton
VanBevers.
Minutes of the last regular meeting read and approved;
Report of Officers read and filed, Treasurers, Budget, and
Clerk' s. ;
Motion passed to have the City Attorney draw up a parking
meter ordinance for the next regular meeting.
Councilman Thornton reported that the N.P.R.R.Co. would have
the crossing on north First repaired in about 10days. also re-
ported that "the tree on North Second Ave . was chat down at a c
cost of $40.00.
Councilman Shaffer reported that the Blue Banner roof had to
be repaired and some gutters installed.
Councilman VanBevers reported on possiblities of an option
from the R.R.Co tract of land at Rock Creek, and also reported
on the Snyder Site , and Barney' s site for the possiblities of
drilling a well for more water supply, and the cost of same.
Motion was passed to have the State Geologist look over the
two sites and pass his opinnon as to the possiblities of water
therein.
Ordinance creating a Local Improvement Guarantee Fund passed
the unanamous vote of the council.
Ordinance on the construction of streets presented by the
planning commission and by motion passed the unanimous vote
of the council.
Councilman Seeman reported on the rules and regulations of
the civil service commission, that were presented at the last
meeting, Motion passed to adopt the regulations.
Motion was passed to purchase and have installed a float valve
at the large reservior to control:. the water height .
Motion passed to instruct the clerk to write a letter to the
Merchant Marine and Fisheries Committee of the House, requesting
a "DoPass" on HR 4190, for the allocation of shipbuilding work
on the West Coast.
Motion passed to instruct the Clerk to write letters to our
congreemen in regard to the moving of the Boeing Plant from
Seattle.
