Regular meeting of the City Council , present Mayor Mooney, Councilmen Romzi, Randall, Seeman, Shaffer, Thornton, VanBevers. Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting; Report of officers read and filed, Police Report : ; Bids were opened and read for the laying of water pipe on the West Highway, Bids received were from the following,R.L.Moss & Cb $5983 .90, Valle Construction Co, $ 8699.65; A.C.Eilers & B.H.Clemenson, 411603 .' 15 ; Critcher & Haber, $ 9046.60; Burrows & Milone Inc . $12445.95; Council recessed fnv� 20 minutes to consid- er the bids. Motion was passed by the unanimous vote of the council to award the bid to R.L.Moss & Co. for $5983.90• Councilman VanBevers reported to the council, on the request of the Thomas Committee for to aquire the to acres of City land on the hill East of Thomas for water supply, he recommended that the City council give the land to better their system, or charge a small sum for same .A report was made on trie blowoff valve on the transmission line at the Blake Service Station, and recommerd ed that the engineer set grade stakes to lay a pipe line along the highway to carry it away from the Blake property, Motion was passed to have the engineer give a grade for the pipe to carry it away and off of the Blake property. , recommended that rock creek be cleaned out and a weir be placed therein to measure the water. to increase our supply if necessary, this recommendation was planed in the hands of the water committee for study. Ordinance #809 vacating an Alley in Block 11, W.C.I.Co Knob Hill Addn, to Kent , passed by unanimous vote of the council. Motion passed to accept the recommendation of the Planning Commission in regard to the improvement of certain streets in the Valley View Addn. to Kent, and to have the plattor place a $2000.00 MeV, he Clerk' s office for the assurance of the improv- ment of Ordinance # 810 Passed the unanimous vote of the council to accept the plat of the Valley View Addition to Kent, and for the Mayor tLad Clerk to sign same when bond is posted, for the improvment of streets as required. Motion passed to have the Clerk write a letter to Mr. Sears our south end county commissioner in regard to the repair, and placing in service the bridge across the river south of Kent, known as the T. Bridge. Two bids were received for a machine for the addressing of garbage and water statements and other general office work, one from Ralph E. Winn Office Equipment service in Seattle ,One machine for the price of $ 850.00 and one for $550.00 both machines being used equipment, and several years old. One bid from the Addressograph Co. for $ 996.00 plus tax. this machine is brand new from the factory, . The bid was awarded to the Addressograph Co. Councilman- Shaffer presented a petition with two other property owners on , to have the council vacate a portion of two streets that abutts the signers property. Motion was passed to instruct the Mayor and Clerk to sign the agreement between the King County Fire Protection District , and the City. Motion was passed to instruct the City Attorney to write a letter to Mr. Micholson in regard to an old open well on his property on Hazel Ave . Mayor announced that the Planning commission would like to have a joint meeting with the council on July 14th.and a meeting with the City Clerk previous to this meeting.
