Regular meeting of the City Council present, Mayor Mooney, Councilmen Armstrong, Edline, Morrill, Seeman, Sells, Thornton, VanBevers. Minutes read and approved of the last regular meeting; Officers report read and filed, police report ; Councilman VanBevers reported on the lots at First & Crow for the park Department , to purchase for a playground for small children. , the cost of the lots was set at $300.00 for clear title, Motion was passed to purchase the ground from the Park Fund. Letter read from Mr. Forbes stating that he had not re- ceived payment for service as Engineer for the following jobs,- A.N.Berlin, Clifford Walmsley, and Richfield Oil Co. Motion was passed to instruct the clerk to mail copy of ordinance to' inform these people of thier obligations to the City Engineer. Letter read in regard to Second Hand Store on So. First planing wares to far out on the walk. Motion passed to have the Chief of Police look into the condition that exists. Saf'e�y Campaign letter read from the Kent Buisness and Professional Women' s Club, letter was referred to the Police Committee .for study and action. Letter read from the State Department of Hydraulics, stating that our permit for water rights will expire in June of this year,Ion Rock Creek, if good and sufficient reasons are not made known to this office. Motion passed to place the situation in the hands of the City Attorney and Water Committee. ,� Letter read from the State Pollution Commission stating that they should have more deffinet reasons for the City of Kent not proceeding with the Sewage Disposal Plant at Kent . Motion passed for the clerk to answer thier letter. Letter received from the Telephone Company stating that they have corrected the complaint that we issued about the slow service they have been giving the people of Kent . Motion passed for the clerk to answer their letter. Petition read from Mrs. Siems to have the council vacate a short ally in Block 11, in Washington Central -Imp. Cos. Knob Hill Add, . to Kent , they being the owners on both sides. petition and request referred to the Street Committee. Petition received from property owners near the North East Hill reservoir requesting the Council to have the roof lowered so that it does that create an obstruction to their view property. Motion was passed to have the water committee get an estimate on the cost of lowering the roof. Motion was passed to lay the bids over on the reroofing the reservoir on account of the petition. Mr. Greyhound of the bus line informed the Mayor that they would do all that was possible to give the people of Kent better service , from the west hiway stops. Councilman Thornton recommended that all bids for crushed rock be rejected, owing to the high cost of transportation. Motion passed to reject bids on crushed rock. Motion passed to accept the same oiling agreement with the City Transfer as last years price , 300 per running foot 18 ft wide, with crushed rock placed there on. and the property oaeevs to pay .200 per ft. and the City to pay 100 and all of intersections and ally intersections. Complaint about a street that was cut in on the east side of the large reservoir and it caused a drainage problem, motion passed to have the Street and Drainage Committee investigate and report at the next meeting. Motion for A & P Store to install incenirator as prescribed by the fire chief. Motion was passed to have the city engineer place his OK on three sewers that have been laid in city streets, to have the council accept them as city property. Ccun,cilnan '111orrill r!entioned to the council that the eater works congention was to be held at Bellingham this year, and motion was passed to have Mr. Rod attend the convention and pay his expenses.
